Background: Unknown to her, she was born in a wolf pack who were hunted and killed but her wounded father, Nanuq managed to carry her to Nome, Alaska. Hiding Chena in a wooden crate in an alley, he headed off the ruthless husky and his master where he soon met his fate. Chena stayed in the crate until she heard pawsteps coming her way, believing it was her father. Instead, she was found by Balto in the alley who reluctantly took her in after losing his mate Jenna.

Once grown into a young adult, Balto was growing old with age and asked Chena to gather his family before he passed away. She began exploring the forests outside Nome where she met Tunerk, a male wolf who was one of Aleu's pups. Together, Chena and Tunerk searched Alaska for Balto's family. On the journey, Chena grows more affectionate with Tunerk and learns the truth about her family.

She learns that Aniu, the White Wolf warned her parents of immending doom by a hunter and dog. But they were too late once the hunter found the puppies alone in the forest den. Chena managed to slip away and her father nabbed her away before his mate was shot. As her father limped to safety, Aniu's voice guided him to Nome. When she finds out the dog's identity, it is Archer, the same husky who tormented her back home. A blizzard was incoming and with Balto's family found, Chena and Tunerk had to guide them all back. Until Archer intervened...

Chena and Tunerk face-off with Archer, but he is defeated after an avalanche buried him in mounds of snow. Chena and the rest of the pack safely arrive in Nome and all had a few minutes to spend with Balto before he passed away. Chena thanked him taking her in and raising her, and sending her on the journey to find who she is and a mate, Tunerk. As she witnessed Balto take his last breath, she howled in honor of the Hero as did the other dogs and wolves. That evening, Chena and Tunerk were gazing at the Northern Lights when they saw Balto, Jenna and Aniu in the distance. Assuring that they will be watching over the entire family for generations to come, Chena and Tunerk stay in Nome and have a happy life there...together.
