How (s)he's related to Balto: She's one of his great-grandchildren.

Other:Dinah was adopted by a man named Bram and later renamed Lovely. Bram was leaving to study cheetahs in Africa and couldn't bare to leave his poor Lovely alone, so he took her with him.

There, Dinah met two cheetahs, Run-Like-Hell, and Mikki. She befriended them and they taught her all sorts of things about life in Africa.

But it was all put to the test when she and Bram get lost in the jungle together. Driven mad by heat and hunger and fear, Bram tried killing Dinah for survival. But she escaped and unfortunately had to abandon him. She was eventually found, collapsed from exhaustion, by Run-Like-Hell and Mikki.

The two cheetahs take care of her for a bit, but they can't do it for much longer. Her only hope was to find humans. But instead she found a pack of African Wild Dogs, all female. At first they don't accept her, but they eventually do as long as there was room.

Eventually the female pack meets with their brother pack for a visit, where Dinah (who now addresses herself as Lovely, what her human named her and also to fit in with the others) meets the young and handsome Lion. He takes no real love interest in her, until the packs separate and meet again. It turns out Lion missed her.
