He was born in Nome in 1924. About 2 months after he and his siblings were born, they were put out for adoption, and young Ignatius was adopted by a man from Ixia, Greece, who had another German Shepherd back at home. When Ignatius was 1 year old, he saw Balto return from the serum run. When he was 2, he was taken by his owner to his new home in Greece. That was when he met Luna. They didn't like each other that much at first, but as months passed they became fast friends. Two years later, he saved Luna from some mean dogs, and after the dogs were scared and running away, Ignatius and Luna realized they loved each other. After that, he and Luna became mates. Ignatius still protects Luna from those dogs.
