She was adopted by the musher of Kodi's team. As she grew older, he trained her to be a sled dog. At first, she had no interest whatsoever, but she gradually came to enjoy it. She is on the same team as Kodi. One day in 1933, on a sled run, there was a small avalanche that buried most of the team except for her. She dug them all out one by one, and those that still had the strength to run got back in their leads. Since Kodi was the last one to be dug out, the cold had taken most of the running strength from him. Jael put Kodi on the sled and also put another of the dogs on there since they had sprained an ankle. Jael, along with Kirby, Ralph, and Dusty, led the team back to Nome. Kodi was taken to the hospital to be taken care of until his temperature was back to normal, and the other dog was taken off the team. After that, the musher made Jael lead dog. Then Steele showed up and started a fight with her. When the musher saw them fighting, the fight was broken up and Jael was removed from the team. She misses running on a team. Since then, she just wanders around Nome, with a sad look on her face, dissapointed to not be on a team anymore. Some guys notice her sad look and try to cheer her up, but she just turns her eyes toward them and walks away. Now she is starting to actually acknowledge them. She now has all but forgotten about being sad about being removed from her team. Some guys are now starting to flirt with her.
