Personality: Can be harsh when she is in a bad mood, and bad moods will make her unpredictable. Tends to dwell on things a lot, and lets them change her impression of things and experiences (Which isn’t really her fault, it’s just a personality issue) For example, if someone has yelled at her, she will see that person in a dim light forever, unless they apologise sincerely. If she is motivated properly, she can be quite loyal. But on the other hand, offend her, and you will have made an enemy you will regret. So I guess what I’m saying here is- Get her on your side and you’ll have an unlikely, but strong-willed and loyal ally. Although she certainly has the capability to maim and kill most opponents, she chooses not to. One of the things she hates most is killing without a good, valid reason.

History: She was born in the wild, then abandoned. Although she didn’t know the reason why when she was younger, she does now. They were actually frightened of her shifty abilities (See what I did thar? :D) Luckily though, they didn’t realise until she was a few months old, so she was fully weaned and /capable/ of surviving on her own, although not very well. She was still very much a baby then, and can’t remember her parents at all. After a few weeks, she met a pack of wolves called the Unalaq, who tried to drive her out of their territory. One of the pups there (Kaya, by the way) took pity on her though, and brought her scraps of food from their stockpile. She hid in a cave just outside of the Unalaq territory until she was old enough to hunt. The wolf pup from the pack, who was quite a bit older than her, showed her how to fend for herself, and how to use her stealth abilities etc etc. Nikki hadn’t actually let Kaya in on her little secret, and she didn’t find out until they got cornered by three wolverines.  Kaya remained forever high in Nikki’s regard, and she gained an ally for the pack. Of course, her dad Koko wasn’t too happy that she’d gone behind his back, but he admired her for having the kindness to do something like that. So since then, she got the nickname of ‘guard from afar’, hunting all of the immediate threats in return for being allowed to stay in their territory and get a share in their noms. She found this sort of life boring though, and wanted a little more fun. So as you can imagine, when Riot the rebel got introduced to the pack as a trial member, she was instantly drawn to the action. They started to hunt together, and on one of their special little trips, they sort of both found out about their ‘abilities’. It was after that, that they really started to become acquainted, and after a very stumbly little speech from both Riot and Nikki, they both proclaimed their love, and began to take each other seriously. They were still hunting partners, but began to venture out even farther into unknown territory, risking their lives, but that was just the way they liked it. So after a while, they started to get a little more adventurous, and took on a grumpy cave of bears. One of them squished Riot onto a cave wall, and Nikki made a daring rush onto the bears head to loosed Riot. Of course, to add to the thrill of it all, they decided before they even started out on the trip that they were going to stay wolf. But Nikki could not help herself, but to transform into a more useful sort of predator. Her shifting skills work in an odd way. She cannot pick a specific animal to shift into, but she must simply pick an environment or a trait of the animal she wants to become. So if the situation she was in required an extremely fast land mammal, then her body would pick an antelope of some sort. A bird with excellent vision would probably be an eagle. You get the picture? But, in dire situations, she is able to transform into mythical creatures that have a better chance of obliterating the threat. The only problem with that is, this was her first time shifting into her phoenix form, and there was one minor flaw. As soon as the threat had disappeared, she automatically shifted back into her true form, which is a wolf. And of course, because she was in the air when she shifted back to her wolf, she fell quite a way into a clump of trees. Riot tried to look for her, but with no success. Her trail had gone cold by the time he had recovered. After a few days, a team of sled dogs found her and brought her back to Nome with them. A couple of days of dog food and being cooped up in the mushers house was enough to make her mad, and she wanted to run around desperately. One of the sled dogs, the wheel dog, took a particular liking to Nikki, and offered her a spot on the sled team. Their lead dog was inclined to agree with him, because of her tall frame, and she became the new wheel dog on their team. This could work to her advantage, if the sled ever passed her old territory again. She didn’t tell them this, so they would let her come along. Effectively, she was taking advantage of them, and she didn’t want them to know that. The dog that had offered her the spot had become the new team dog, and was therefore pulling the sled one spot ahead of her. His name was Riley (Yeah, my friend named him >>) and he was a bit too friendly for his own good. He was a good listener and a good friend, but he was clingy. This was partially because the other sled dogs didn't have much to do with him. Chicago, the lead dog didn't talk much anyway, and Diego didn't like anyone apart from himself. Nikki was the only one there that would listen and respond to him. He began following her everywhere, and this went a bit too far for her liking. She confronted him, and politely asked him to lay off a little. Riley turned all defensive, and explained how he couldn’t help his feelings. He apologised profoundly, and Nikki left the subject at that. However, he still couldn’t resist making that odd comment about how great they’d be. Nikki ignored him, hoping he’d take the hint, back off, but Riley wouldn’t give up, oh no. He pushed it and pushed it, until he was literally begging her. At this point, Nikki realised that she would have to give him more than a few hints. She told him that she already had a mate, and that he needed to back off, otherwise there would be serious conflicting problems. The begging ceased for a few weeks, and Nikki found out from the rota in the kennel shed that the team would be going past the Unalaq territory in two months to drop off some supplies to the rangers station there. She planned how she would make her escape, trying all sorts of different dialogues in her head, none of them would work against the lead dog anyway. The lead dog Chicago was an easy-going fellow, but he didn’t take any nonsense. If someone wasn’t pulling their weight (No pun intended) then he would have serious consequences. The swing dog, Diego, was snobbish, and didn’t like anybody very much, with the exception of Chicago. Of course, Riley was the typical dog that wouldn’t let a bad thing drop. He somehow found out about Nikki’s plotting, and threatened to tell Chicago, unless she stopped ignoring his pleadings, and accepted him as her mate. She had no idea where Nome was in relation to the Unalaq territory, and the sled dog collar that was fastened round her neck with her name and mushers name on it would prevent her from shifting (If something is constricting any part of her body, whether this be a blanket, a collar, or even a tangle of weeds, she cannot shift) and so, she had no other choice but to say yes. The two months went by quickly enough, and with no real problems, until the date came when the team would run past the Unalaq territory. Of course, Riley had thought up a plan that would stop her from leaving, that she knew was certain to happen. But she disregarded his threats to betray her to Chicago again, and just continued on with her mushing. They got into her own familiar grounds, and Riley began to glance backwards every now and again. She couldn’t just slip out while he was watching, and plus, the musher would stop her before she had a chance to escape. So she stopped dead in her tracks, and pawed at the snow. Riley looked at her, confused. She growled softly at him, and he turned round sullenly. “Don’t even think about it…” He warned, and Nikki just sat down. "Sorry." She shrugged. The line of dogs sat down and waited. Riley faced her again, watching the musher climb out of the sled. Nikki rolled her eyes. "Hmm, how do I put this... We had a good run?" The musher crouched down to examine her paws, lifting one leg out of her harness. As quick as a flash, she whirled round, freeing her other front leg and her head. With a spray of snow, she was hurtling up the hill towards the cliff. She stopped at the top, lowering her head at the dogs in thanks, and flourishing her paw at Riley. Then she disappeared over the crest of the hill. Riley barked, and began to tug the line of dogs after her. Chicago stopped him. “Let her go. We all knew she was going to run. It’s her life, let her do what she wants with it. It’s what I would have done.” Riley whimpered, and growled in dissapointment and anger. His plan had totally backfired, his blackmail wouldn’t have worked even if he had carried out the threat, and he vowed to come back here and find her, if it was the last thing he did. Nikki found her way back to Riot, and the Unalaq territory, and after a more than enthusiastic greeting, they settled back into their old life once more. To be continued.. Mwaha.
