Personality:
extremely proud of herself and the fact that she is a working dog, she'll give all herself to what he does, even if she may not like it; she may be seen cold and unfriendly at first meeting mostly because she doesn't feel very comfortable around new dogs, yes, she's the kind of dog that you'd immetialy stick as nasty, even if she's not; she rarely speaks, because she's alone most of the time but she's a good listener even if she doesn't know to give good advices or a good word.
Likes/Dislikes:
she doesn't stand dogs from town because, exept for sled/mail dogs, in her opinion, most of them are just doing nothing than showing off while she has to work almost all the day, tired or not, without complaining. She likes tranquillity and silence, crowded places are not for her (she definately will never go to see a sled race again). Due to her job, she is a well proportioned mutt and used to be courted or teased by many dogs, because she is doing a job that a girl shouldn't do, which gives her another reason to hate pets and other dogs. Last, she hates to be sticked as Border Collie only because of her appereance.
History:
her parents were two dogs used as guard dogs in a farm not too far from Juneau where raindeer/caribou were kept, used for their pelt, their meat, their milk. Psiche doesn't remember if she had siblings or not, she was taken away at a young age and moved to White Mountain where she was trained to pull sleighs. She was strong, stronger than other dogs but not fast. Between the dogs she was trained with, she was probably the slowest. Praised for her strenght, her trainer didn't want her to just sit there and do nothing. She was sold to a man that was searching for strong dogs as he worked on a mine and dogs, preferably with a familiarity to pulling sleighs, were always useful. The last dog he had (a Retriver mix) died of old age and he needed a new young dog. Her now owner was working to find gold or other valuable materials in the Nome Mining District. Psiche had the job to pull a sleigh with the tools and the supplies for the job. She didn't truly like it but she had to do it, if she was chosen for it, it meant that she was the best and nobody else would fit. Even if she was tired, she worked and did her best. But even the best ones fall. Her owner, after a period of bad luck since he found almost no gold, decided to try to go deeper in the mine, even if it was dangerous. Psiche followed him, of course and, when a big rock from a wall cracked and fell on them, she barked soon enough to save her owner. Too bad one of her back paws got stuck and she was unable to work properly. Her owner was forced to buy another dog while she was recovery, a dog that would become her co-worker once she was up on her paws again. Psiche didn't like the idea but soon realized that there was no other choice. The dog was a reddish husky with a prodigy family: his father was Nome's hero
Balto. But this husky mutt,
Ike, was nothing like the father and was sold for being a useless sled/mail dog and breeder. Psiche felt pity for him but didn't show it. He wasn't the best companion to work with but at least he was silent and quiet, just what she wanted. She never complained about him befriending and liking a fox.
Relation to Balto:
used to have a crush on
Kaltag, she once went to see a sled race (and hated it for all the crowd and the noise) but admired the sled dogs, especially
Kaltag, for their job. Her co-worker
Ike is the son of
Balto.
Adopted from Troll Berserker. Thank you! C8
