More on the end of the Universal animated sequels

Written by steet :

I tried to contact Aria (the voice of Ducky for Land before time) for getting confirmation of the end of LBT, but instead her representative answered me, and confirmed the same thing. I think everyone should read this, as this is very interesting :

Yes, for a long time the new regime tried to kill the series, they did everything possible, released new ones in mid January instead of Christmas, (the videos) so they could say they were not selling as well, changed the series airing time on cartoon network several times so the poor little kids had to keep looking for it or lose interest. The first air time was for little toddlers and no weekends for older kids who would be very interested. Only true and rabid fans cared. The old true producing staff for these shows (LBT, Balto) were wonderful people professionally and personally. The new people that take over in this kind of case just want to dump all the old shows and put on edgier stuff, so it has their signature, and they want to pay the actors very little, and hope to pay them no residuals from sales as well. It is this same callousness and greed that has us in the current writers strike. It is sad.
Will let you know if we can find out anything. Anything is possible. If the "glorious" minds of the current crop of people in power think they can make a personal fortune by re starting or re-releasing something, they will.

Yes I am a bit cynical if you can't tell. I have heard and seen too much. I liked the simple days when there were really good people at Universal Animation. Now it seems all about them keeping money for themselves however they can. Even if Balto and LBT had more fans than any other shows they would not want to keep their finger on the pulse of what people want. They want to DRIVE people and steer them into wanting whatever it is the animation companies want to push.
Sad.

Looks like the staff at Universal Cartoons Studios has changed pretty much - since the arrival of Glenn Ross, I suppose. And it seems they made everything possible to get rid of LBT... :?
It wouldn't surprise me if they did the same for Balto. After all, the staff has changed just before the Balto 3 release, so they probably didn't market it correctly on purpose, so that they could say "look, it didn't sell well" as an excuse to get rid of it. Maybe them telling us that the sales of Balto 3 weren't enough wasn't the true reason for stopping it, after all...

They advertise LBT sequels, but not Balto sequels and they
wonder why the Balto franchise never makes enough money.
That in itself doesn't make sence to me. I'm actually happy
LBT is coming to an end. That went on too long if you ask
me. I'm worried that their new series are going to be really
crappy.

While I'm surprised that Universal was trying to dump LBT
(what with the constant sequels and plugs for the series),
I'm not at all surprised that they didn't ever give Balto a
chance. It's really sad that they didn't advertise at all
for Balto, especially considering what a great movie it was;
I actually only got to see Balto in theatres because Toy
Story was sold out at the time, and I thought Balto was way
better, even though I'd never heard of it. One thing I'm
astonished at is that they never acknowledged that Wings of
Change was in the top 15 family movies, even though they
never advertised it, as far as I know. If they're going to
give up on Balto, just hand the rights over to a more
responsible company

Talespin VS Management
I agree Cobalt, that would make this easier to talk about.
Your right even if it doesn't happen, it will be intresting,
who knows, maybe if we can't, we could get ahold of a
company that can, I'm working on Nick, I'll tell you if
anything comes of it!

no u
I'll make a topic about the rights and people's opinions,
such as if we want to ask if Universal would be willing to
give us them. Even if it doesn't happen, still an
interesting discussion point.

They must of done it to balto 3 no advertising or nothing
because I didnt even know there was a third one until one
day I walked into a huge shop in the city and it was on the
shelf., not like disneys movies they still make storybooks,
soft toys and stuff like that for ten year old movies.
