Sooty palominos tend to have their manes and/or tails darkened to anything from greyish blonde to black. They also tend to look like they've rolled around in a pile of soot (hence the name), although there's varying degrees of darkening in sooty horses. Just google 'sooty palomino' and you'll see some very extreme examples.

To me her colour looks a bit more like a dapple palomino, especially since the dapples are normally caused by good health rather than a lightening of the fur, so they don't tend to appear all over the horse's coat anyway.
