We all know Boris's famous line "Remeber Balto, A dog cannot make this journey alone.......But maybe... A wolf can"

I still don't under stand what he meant by that. What did he mean?

He's basically giving Balto hope. Balto was never sure about his wolf
side and Boris is telling him that he has to use that side to help him
complete the journey.
