Humanized! Balto Characters
...Because. I've been toying with this idea for a while now (since summer of 2014), and I recently decided to revamp the human designs I came up with to make them more faithful (and easier to recognize when compared) to the original versions.
In my little AU, Balto's character was orphaned at an early age after his parents died during the Fairbanks Gold Rush in 1905. Boris, a friend of the family and fellow miner who had settled in Alaska since coming over from Russia for the Klondike Gold Rush in 1896 when he was just twenty, stepped in to take care of the youngster and brought him to Nome when he was a little older. Steele is a hotshot musher known for having the fastest team in the city; he also inherited the fortune his father made in the Gold Rush and uses it to buy friends and popularity. Jenna is the aunt of Rosie who moves out to Alaska from the East Coast to be closer with her sister and her sister's family after her mother passes away.
I'm really having fun with these ideas, so I might develop them (and the designs) a bit more in the future.

These do look interesting, and I like that you used some creativity in
their human backgrounds rather than just porting everything over from
their canine versions. Jenna and Boris look a bit white-washed (which
arguably could be realistic; just saying it kind of detracts
aesthetically), but that's literally the only thing I would change. |
