New In Town
Another excuse to draw some more awesome 1930s fashions (and people, which has been the focus of my art ever since I started a comic project a while back). Besides, I didn't think Rosie would stay in Alaska for all her life, so I had her move out to New York, NY where she meets Jim Holliday, an editor who helps her get her story published about what happened revolving around the Diphtheria Epidemic.

The heads on both figures could be a bit smaller but, other than that,
as with the individual drawings of each, this IS awesome! (I don't happen to think large heads are her style, at least from what little I have seen of her gallery. Even on the individual drawings of each of these characters. But I could be wrong. Maybe other stuff she's done has a big-head tendency.) I love that classic 1950/60s style of artistry, with the use of sketchy outlines and the purposeful use of monotone color swaths which, while mirroring aspects of the background, don't conform to the lines themselves. Beautiful work! Very classic! |
