Yes, I think I get it. The demon was blinded by evilness, like Steele is blinded by rage.
I was also thinking about colouring this drawing with photoshop and make a t-shirt design for RedBubble.

This reminds me of a comic I read once where Michael (the archangel) was battling a demon and struck him in the eye. The demon raged that Michael had blinded hi, to which Michael replied, "You were already blind."

I trust the comparison speaks for itself. Steele's eye in this one even looks like that of a devil.
