Very nice. It makes me want to take up sculpture myself. You're
right, too; an underlying frame does make the process easier and the
finished product more durable. I've read some about making sculptures
for museums and the like (replicas of dinosaurs, taxidermy, that type
of thing), and most people in the business do that to some extent as
near as I can tell. |

Thanks! Yeah, that's why I prefer needle felting to sculpting, .
Clay can be pretty hard to work with, due to delicate areas snapping
off (actually, both Steele's front paws and tail broke off in the
drying process!), but the results are usually quite rewarding! I heard
that making a wire armature wrapped in silver foil (to put under the
clay) helps prevent bits from breaking. |

This is cute! I made a sculpture of Balto awhile back with some
air-dry clay. His ear broke off on one side though. |
