A Love Lost... [Aleu x Niju]
The resounding din of the bang made the dark Alpha's ears prick up. Something... something wasn't right, he could feel it in his bones.
W-what was that, Daddy? A brown female pup asked, her three siblings following behind her.
...Man. Niju told them. Hunters, by the smell of it. He knew of them and their guns mostly due to his mate's stories from her youth--- wait a minute. Where was Aleu? Kids, where is your mother?
I don't know, Papa... The larger male pup that resembled him said. She went out to into the forest to check on something a few minutes ago, but--
The male wolf panicked in his mind as his son's words faded, automatically having that sinking feeling down in his heart. Stay here, kids; I'll... I'll find her! He didn't mean to sound so hesitant for that last promise, but what else could he tell them? Until her sweet face was by his side, Niju couldn't say any more... and after sampling the air, the lupine caught her scent... that wonderful, loving scent... and rushed off on the invisible trail to meet her.
The scent of the hunters had vanished in the area for some reason, though why they did so, Niju didn't know or care. All he wanted to do right now was follow her scent, track her down, and make sure she was safe...
Five minutes had passed by the time he had reached the opening of the rock tunnel, his blue and gold eyes spotted light brown fur in the light breaking through the darkness. One more step closer, and there was a lupine body, limp against the ground by the wall. One last step... and the stain of red on the wall and on the ground sealed it.
No... His voice was a simple murmur. For the first time in his rough, wild life, he could feel water swelling from his widened eyes. That was what her scent lead to... someone unmoving, lifeless... dead.
N-no...! Her stunning eyes were shut, never to open to the sunlight again... and that youthful voice was now silent, gone forever. Just thinking such things made the tears drip down his cheeks, staining the light markings darker while his voice cracked in somber mourning of his beloved mate. No, A-Aleu... You... y-you can't be gone... not from m-me... from our c-children... f-from our Clan...
...Daddy! Did you find her yet?
The yapping of his approaching children made him gasp. Oh shoot! They must have heard his lamenting, and the last thing he wanted them to see was... was that. It would break their young little hearts, though not as much as it had his own at the first sight of it.
...Kids! D-don't come any closer! He yelled at them, but it was to no avail, as they were already running to his side, soon gasping at the pile of fur in front of them.
M-mama...! No, Mama! The children wept and whined at his side and against some rocks, as Niju didn't want them to get too close and disturb her eternal rest; it would be... much too sad and tempting to move to her side for a final nuzzle that she couldn't return.
She's... she's with Aniu now, isn't she? His son with his mate's familiar coat and markings sniffled against Niju's leg, looking up with tearful eyes of gold.
...Y-yes, son. He looked down at his children, knowing that a part of her was still much alive in them. Niju took a breath, trying not to breaking down in tears with his heart-breaking words of truth to his four children; he was the patriarch of the Clan now, and he had to endure. They all had to stay strong, even in times of sorrow. She's... she's gone for now... b-but we'll be running with her again one day. I promise.
That promise... it was one he surely planned to keep, and he knew that she would be watching them from above from now on.

...S-sorry to make you depressed, you guys.
This is probably the most depressing render I've ever made, but I think it may be the most beautiful as well. It's the first one featuring Aleu and Niju's pups in my continuity, and it's not the last. This one is so far the only one with death visible too, but it's not that graphic.
Also, this was based on a story idea I had for these two, but I thought a shocking render would do the trick. I'm not sure if that fic will ever be written though... but I'm sure some more happier stuff from me will show up here real soon!

TwilightNight: I don't blame you. I know of some fans that hate her,
so I had a feeling someone would laugh at this and LOVE it. Besides,
when are you going to make something that both fans and haters like by

out years ago... at least in 2007-08, if I remember correctly. I just
never finished the fics that led up to this jarring event or to her
eventual hooking-up with Niju, but I hated killing her off... yet I
wanted to see it happen. I'm glad you like it! [That was a great
emotional scene in that story too, one of my favorites!] And I'd go into the craziness that her death soon led to, but nah - it really is crazy, but this little write-up does it better than what I had at first. The original idea was for a wolf hunter to aim at Niju and having Aleu take the shot instead, regardless of her obvious demise. I could send you a PM of those weird details if you want...? I experimented with shadowing here, especially with light being behind Niju and all of them. I didn't want it to be too dark so that details couldn't be seen... but this works. - Juuchan17 |
