"Why him?"

In a way, I feel sorry for Luke. All he ever did was love Aleu, which wasn't a crime against anyone. He still loved her even when he was introduced to Sophie. But, Aleu after a while just didn't seem interested in him anymore.
Luke was devastated when he found out of Aleu and Sam's kiss, he loved Aleu and was heartbroken, these are the moments just before he fled.

-Luke, listen. We never were together, it was just a silly crush- Aleu began, trying to explain.

-It wasn't just a silly crush to me- Luke replied, - I loved you, I've never loved anyone as much as I loved you in my life.-

-Luke, I don't feel for you. I maybe had a few little crush feelings for you, but nothing more than that-

-Little crush feelings? We'd kissed many a time, we've been out on dates together and had memorable howls togther on Pack rock, like every couple does. We were a couple.-

-It was a brief relationship, Luke.-

-Why him? Of all people, why my best friend?-

-Because I love him Luke, because I love him dearly. I've never met anyone as genuine, kind and sweet as Sam, he wouldn't hurt anyone.-

-Do you realise you've ruined not only our relationship, but my relationship with my best friend? You've hurt me inside.- Luke fled, running as fast as he possibly could into the distance.
-Luke!- Aleu called, -Come back!-
