Bambi – Harlow always could get along with Bambi because he never seemed to mind her unusual appearance and antlers.

Ronno – Self-proclaimed ‘mentor’ to Harlow, who didn’t realize for over a week that she WAS a doe, Ronno tends to stick around and try and teach her to act like a buck. He also bullies her occationally when others do, but swings between bullying and standing up for her.

Personality:

Generally mild-mannered and quiet, Harlow is an unassuming creature. She generally doesn’t want to get in the way and tries to stay on the side-lines, as she fears bullying and doesn’t like to think that she might make some other deer uncomfortable. She doesn’t mind being alone; rather, Harlow is talented in the art of solitude. She actually prefers to be on her own but tries her best to subtly let one – such as Ronno – know if they aren’t welcomed or are intruding on her privacy. She does however have a temper, and when she’s pushed to far she will fight. Harlow doesn’t go out of her way to correct those who mistake her for a buck, as she has a mild gender identity – she doesn’t exactly mind being called a buck, but she definitely does identify herself as a doe.

History:

Born and raised in Bambi’s forest alongside Bambi, Harlow was never too concerned with appearance. When she was very young, the spring floods came through and her mother was killed. Whether her father lived she could never know – Harlow never met him. From there, Harlow took care of herself and grew into a scruffy young doe on the meadow, which she lived on the edge of. Even then occasionally other deer would mistake her for a buck, and she had to correct them. Soon she grew used to it.

Before long, though, she started to nub, and things changed. Harlow was shocked by the growing antlers. She was often bullied by others over it, especially bucks whos antlers had already grown before hers – as they thought she was a buck and didn’t see otherwise. She put up with it though and hardly even thought to put a foot down on it. Rather, she just let it occur.

One such day, a buck went in and broke up the torment. He made the others leave Harlow alone through a bit of force, although he too was about as well-grown. He turned and, also assuming Harlow was a male, introduced himself as Ronno, and asked ‘him’ if ‘he’ knew how to fight. Harlow told him no.

And on that day, Ronno swore he’d be Harlow’s ‘mentor’ in fighting, and though Harlow didn’t exactly care for Ronno, he wouldn’t leave the antlered doe alone and it took him more than a few days to realize that Harlow was, indeed, a doe. All the same, she didn’t correct him through all that time and just took Ronno’s company at face value. After all, friends were pretty hard for her to come by.
