A Parting

Malvon trod towards the hard and dry leaf-covered path which led away into a place he had not encountered or walked upon before. He moved slowly and rather reluctantly, lifting each foot and moving it before him each with a slight sigh of worry. On his face he wore a very hesitant expression and in his eyes were slight tears. He was thinking, always thinking about what lies ahead - and of Bambi. Bambi, whom he had left distressed and angry, miles and miles away in the Thornlane meadow.

How terrible was the argument they had had in that meadow; He, Malvon, who had wanted to roam and search for the parents he had scarcely knew and had no idea whatsoever about their appearance and nature. And Bambi, the young and frightened new Prince of the Forest, who wished for guidance and advise from his friend whom had been (and still is) so like a brother to him. And wanted Malvon to stay in the forest and be with him forever.

Breathing many sighs of sorrow, Malvon halted and turned his head to take one last glimpse of Prince Bambi's forest, which he had always called his home.

He lifted his head a let out an anguishing bray.

If it had not been for a small pattering of running hooves which were coming from his left shoulder, as if answering his call, Malvon would have went on his way again.
He stood stock still, not moving, just staring at the trees and foliage which rustled as whatever it was came towards him. With a cry of astonishment, Malvon's eyes widened as a slim, blury figure sped out from behind a tall bushel and nearly collasping hugged his neck affectionately.

'If you are to go, Malvon,' said the figure with a sob.' At least let us make our parting sweet.'
