Maybe this has already been posted, but I haven't seen a topic about this.
I have found a 1080i russian version of the film on the web :

http://www.programaswarez.com/peliculas ... -hdtv.html

Here are some samples :

Of course it's not up to the quality of the Lion King Bluray for example (this looks like an upscaled version of the SD source), I think it still looks better than the DVD (no compression artefacts)

NB : I know that this is somewhat a copyright violation, but as long as Universal will not move their butts and release the Blu-ray, I think this is fine to get this as long as you own the DVD and would buy the Bluray if it was released!

Wow, great find Steet. Maybe I'll take a look at that sometime; perhaps this could even be used to grab some high-rez Screenshots?

That's the main point, because I think it is in Russian.

Awesome find - now if only there was an English version out there.

You could always open the file in a video editor and swap the audio with the English version. lol

If you haven't already, I would be willing to take screenshots for you.

Yeah I caught an HD version of Balto on my DVR (DirecTV), pretty sure it's the same 1080i. I saved and locked it, so it's still on my DVR. I agree with Steet, as long as Universal is unwilling to release a blu-ray (or HD in some form) version of Balto, we should grab stuff like this when we can.

Lakota, you haven't even BEEN here six years. And if you were to see Steet's profile, you would notice that he has posted QUITE often in that time period.

I agree with Echo. Lakota, sorry about that.

Back on-topic, this COULD be a sign that Universal will be releasing Balto sometime in the future. If a 1080i version exists, that means that the potential is there.

This would look amazing! I'd love to see the full High Definition Balto, it would fill in the blurs that are commonly seen in the drawings of this film

Balto in a full 1080 would be wonderful, but all films, even new ones, have motion blur. There really is no way around it.

Anyway, here is one of the screenshots I took.
