I was surprised to see that this forum is empty. To get the ball rolling, I'm gonna ask a simple question... Which Martin Rosen Film do you prefer? I want to hear your opinion. btw..I prefer TPD.

Haven't seen the WSD movie, but I have seen The Plague Dogs, and I loved that movie. Dark, chilling, and depressing, but good nonetheless.

Hmm, tough choice. Both film adaptations of the books are really good. If I had to choose, I would probably say The Plague Dogs because the book wasn't as good, and they improved it greatly with the movie adaptation. Watership Down is both a good book and movie, and the movie keeps faithful to the book for the most part, but yeah The Plague Dogs stands out more to me as a better overall film because it was a better adaptation from the book.

I personally liked WSD because of the great beauty of the painted scenery. You don't find that kind of animation art very often even back then. I bought the film picture book just so I could be reminded in print of how beautiful the countryside is in that respective area of England. That being said, both films and books were excellent but for very different reasons. I saw WSD when I was ten years old in San Fransisco, and I remember there was a reporter outside asking people what they thought of the movie. I said I liked it because...well, it was 'bloody' ( haha) but perhaps I meant bloody good. I don't know if my parents were aware that this was no Disney film. Years later in school, I had a wonderful English teacher who had us read the book ( and I was hooked again on the characters) and see the film. While there were variations of course in the book and the movie, both forms of media should be appreciated for what they are: excellent storytelling and wonderful, unforgettable characters.

I read both books but I have only seen Watership down. Maybe if the Plague dogs were shown more often on T,V, I could rate it. I have only seen that horrible accident where one of the dogs accidently kills a man.

I personally believe they're as good as each other. Watership Down is a both a beautiful book and movie, with wonderful landscapes and music. Gosh, the music makes me so happy every time I watch the movie again. The Plague Dogs is, again, a wonderful movie (I'm currently reading the book, so I cant say too much about it, but so far its lovely and so poetic). Its grim nature gives a sense of reality to it that Watership Down doesn't quite master. But to each their own, I suppose.

They are both great. Maybe plague dogs is better since Watership down does have a happy ending and plague dogs doesn't. It is about animal abuse more than Watership down is . True, rabbits get gassed alive, but it ends horribly slow while the plague dogs, it doesn't. I actually wished the dogs had a happy ending instead of that gun accident, which wasn't the dog's fault. The man should have got shot in the leg for his stupidity and found the dogs.
