Ugh same. I wanna slap my past self sometimes. XD

Those people who did Simba's Pride... If it's true, that the people who made The Lion King don't recognize Simba's Pride as 'canon', gee, I can't blame them.

I've read fanfics that are better than SP!

Agreed.

And sorry for my late reply, but I didn't really think it was worth making a post for such a short response. But now I have something to add. Along with everything you said in your last post (in a nutshell, WQ and SP are sequel fails), I have something to add from something Hunt said:

Moki Hunter wrote:
All in all, I think Aleu from WQ and Kiara are pretty much exactly the same. They're looked up to for disregarding the rules and their fathers, and the consequences are non-existant. Which is why they're looked up to. In real life, disrespecting your parents doesn't earn you a gold star. It gets you grounded, end of story. I don't really think that's something people should be admiring.

If not something worse. Like wounded, kidnapped, or dead. Not saying that every parent is in the right in being against their child doing a certain thing. Some parents do keep their kids from living a little for reasons such as religious beliefs (just an example, don't read go in depth with it *read the rules*) or fear they'll get hurt from doing certain activities (like horseback riding for example). Reasonable 'over protectiveness' causes, but that doesn't give the kid the right to hate their parents and disobey them anyway, and that's the vibe I get from these two characters. People will then only get hurt, be it from wounds or feelings. And one day you'll be able to do those things if you really want to, so wait until then. Believe it or not a few years or less isn't all that long to wait and it'll pass fast.

^...this, definitely this. These are exactly the reasons why I disliked Kiara as a kid (sorry, never heard of Balto until just over three years ago) and why I'm just shy of despising her now. For me, her only "redeeming" qualities EVER were that:
1) She's a feline (seriously, have you noticed just how few cat characters there are?)
2) She's well, female (it may just be me, but many of the animal heroes in fiction seem to be male)
3) She has a few almost wise lines near the end of her film (hmm...a bit late for radical character development, don't ya think?)

Granted, all of my reason's for "tolerating" her are frankly quite shallow. Then again, like many attempts at creating "strong" female characters (especially in sequels) over the years, her character stayed shallow and fell flat.

Well I find Kiara highly annoying. She acts all strong, when really she is just a Daddy's girl who is weak willed.

I chose the option 'neither; and mainly because for the past years, I've gone off-and-on with loving her and hating her.

Reasons I've liked her:

1. She's the daughter of Simba and Nala; and I love them.

2. She's not afraid to tell her father anything, which I love that about her.

3. She isn't afraid to stand up to or for who she loves.

4. She is forgiving. She forgave Zira, but of course when she tried to save Zira, well Zira basically drowned in the waters of doom.

Reasons I've disliked her:

1. She was a total brat as a cub. (I know that sometimes we are all brats when we don't get the best out of life, but was it necessary to have such tone of sarcasm towards your dad?)

2. She just started yelling at Kovu when he had just saved her from not only a fire, but also from drowning. (I'm sorry, is there something wrong with the fact that if he hadn't saved you that you would have drowned or died in a fire?)

3. She seemed to use too much sarcasm towards Kovu. (Seriously? You just met your childhood friend and your trying to annoy the crap out of him?)

Yea. xD. That's all the reasons I really have.

Anyway, when I come up with MORE reasons, I'll post them.

I mean, after all, I watch this movie a lot and I've gotten to know word to word and line to line from this movie.

Honestly, I have mixed feelings towards Kiara. Though I mainly dislike Kiara, I will admit she wasn't a completely bad character. I have reasons I like her and reasons I can't stand her.

-

Her personality: As a cub, she wasn't the brightest. Not to mention, the attitude she had. She treated her father so impolitely, always complaining and mumbling. When she grew older, she became more strong willed. She disobeyed her father and almost got herself killed. And, when Kovu saved her life, she put up a fight and arguement. (He didn't only save her from a fire, but from drowning). He could've just let her die, but he saved her and she gives him an attitude. That just annoyed me about her. Kiara would get very protective of herself if you said the slightest about her ability or personality. (I believe Kovu helped her improve on her terrible personality, as it improved towards the end of the movie). Eventually, Kiara grew out of this in the end of the movie and actually grew more mature, but I still believe that she should've contained all those mean comments of hers and kept them to herself.

Her design: Her design wasn't "bad", but it was certainly far from perfect. To me, Kiara looks way more like Simba than Nala. I feel that they should have added at least one feature from Nala to Kiara. They could've given her the same eye color, or paws even. What I did like, though, was that they made her tail color brown, rather than red. I'm not saying Kiara's design is terrible, because I'm in no place to say that. I'm just saying they could've given her a design that makes her look like Nala's daughter as well.

Her ability: When I say ability, I mean ability to have fun and reason. She was able to reason very well with her father as she grew older. And, her ability to have fun was never an issue. Towards they end of the movie, Kiara was able to reason with her father, pleading that the outlanders are no different than pridelanders. Simba willing took the pridelanders in thanks to Kiara's pleas. Not to mention her ability to hunt was terrible until Kovu came along, which I found slightly amusing.

-

Overall, I don't like Kiara, but I don't hate her. She's just one of those characters I don't care for. She's a character I could've lived without.
