Snowberry looked back, making sure no one was following her. She needed to take a break from this grumpy Fresian stallion. Since the incident with a train they sticked together for more safety, but his bossy attitude was so annoying for the mare that she had to found an excuse to get away from him for a while.
Now she was taking a stroll in the forest, enjoying her time alone.

The forest was alive with the animals of summer. Songbirds flitted between dapples of sunlight, rabbits scurried over the moss in search of food, and the shadow of a silent fox slipped between the heavy trees, intent on his prowl. Soft footfalls made him freeze in his tracks, and his amber eyes stared hard into the forest’s dark depths to see the intruder. A figure began to form, larger and bulky, and he stole away before it could hurt him. But into the forest light emerged, not a predator, but a lone mare, calmly plodding through the undergrowth.
Riverdance was many miles from the herd that had taken her in and made this bulky Irish mare one of their own. But she wasn’t looking for a safe place to birth a foal, nor leaving her stallion in search of a new suitor. No, Riverdance was on a mission, one she conducted every few months or so. Deep within the forest was the pool of a hot spring, and it was to this that the cob journeyed whenever her strained back became too painful to bear. The heated water soothed her aching muscles and gave her respite from her condition, for a while at least. The pool was Riverdance’s sanctuary; the place she came to whenever she wanted to be alone and ease her taut muscles.
