I suppose this is a mystery like the hyenas in The Lion King, but what happened to the rhinos and all of Prince John's men following the fire at the castle? Is there a deleted scenes or making of section on the DVD and if so, are there mentions of this?

I believe they get back in line and renewed their service under King Richard. Though history also tells that he eventually leaves England again and soon meets his demise by a bolt fired from a French crossbow.

The King Richard you're mentioning is the historical figure.

Which the bipedal lion was obviously derived from no? But I digress, it's not unusual for Disney to deviate from the way history had it all written.

Well, the King Richard of the animated film is based on the one that appears in all Robin Hood stories. In almost every version of Robin hood, King Richard is seen as a great king. If you read about King Rciahrd and Prince John biographies, you'll know that the papers for both brothers changed later. Even my uncle, who used to be a mason, told that King Richard wasn't the way he's described in Robin Hood tales.

All those who work with Prince John would continue to work for King Richard. Why? Because they were only following orders.
