Eye color: medium brown

Voice: Harlan Coben (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaFRDtJq52c&list=FL2si4mdcJ09WOpyfL6Bzokg&index=145&feature=plpp_video)

Mate: none

Likes: keeping to himself, sleeping, eating, being left alone, the sound of train whistles as well as a train passing through town

Dislikes: others, himself (secretly), being bothered by someone trying to talk to him (which isn't too often), people, thinking about his past before he ended up on the railroad

Personality: He is abrasive, has corrosive wit, is conscientious, contemptible. Appears conceited. He is ill-mannered, ill-natured, nervy, and humorless. Is crafty, dismissive, and fainéant. He is haggard and is also an oddsmaker. Is also joyless and wistful. He tries to change but seems unable to. Considers himself to be unbearable. Has a large inferiority complex. He appears self-confident but inside is quite the opposite.

History: He was born in a small Indiana town called Rockland in 1930. He didn't have the best parents; his father had a volcanic temper and obsessive need for control, and his mother (who had been a police dog) made it clear - often explicitly - that he and his siblings were the reason for her ruined life. He could take it no more, so he ran away, and was caught and put in the pound at a few months old. About a year later, after twelve long months of enclosure and torment, a railroad employee with the Indiana & Aurora RR came in and bought him after they saw how aggressive he was. He was taken to the local railyard, in which the railroad had been having problems with thieves and vandals. He was named and cared for by a not-so-kind employee (who didn't like his assigned task the least bit) until he was stronger, after which he was put in guard dog training. He completed training in about six months because he was so aggressive. He was put out in the yard, and proved to be one of the best railroad police dogs they had. He was relentless when it came to catching trespassers or miscreants. He was so vicious he even bit a few railroad employees trying to put him back in his cage. When there werent any criminals or trespassers to pursue, he sometimes slept in a boxcar whose door was either open or partway open. In the following two years, he caught several tresspassers and vandals in the yard.

One night, he unwittingly picked the wrong car to sleep in. The whistle of the 2-8-4 Berkshire steam locomotive (I&A #452; currently preserved at a rail museum) sounded. I.A. thought nothing of it, and went back to sleep. When he woke up, the train was moving. A couple hours later, the train stopped in Sladeville, Tennessee, where he hopped out of the I&A boxcar. A local dog who had seen him jump out tried to say hi and welcome, but I.A. responded rudely, "Get lost." Since this day, no-one tries to talk to him and they steer clear of him. I.A. has no friends and likes it that way. Eventually he will change and possibly fall in love with someone, but for now, he's mean and cold as ever.

Relation to FatH: Lives in the town in which Tod, Copper, Dixie, Cash, and the others used to live; the dog that tried to welcome him to town was Copper's grandson

*His bandana is in the railroad's colors
