Personality: Spinx has a dominate attitude toward what he calls "lesser species", which means Dragons other than Nightfuries, Humans, and other species of animals. He likes to be the boss and he is easily offended when he's made fun of because of his missing eye or questioned about his mate and children. Spinx is very stubborn, over confident, and is easily annoyed. When his mate and hatchlings were still alive, he was over protective of them; he'd never let them go anywhere without him for protection.

History: Spinx grew up on a remote island that was the original home of the Nightfury species. He was the trustful caretaker of Toothless until he was old enough to leave the nest. Spinx vowed that he'd never leave his motherland until the Humans came. They slaughtered all the Nightfuries that they could before the Dragons turned on them for revenge and a food source. Spinx was one of the last few survivors who managed to escape the island when the Humans utterly destroyed it, and flew to the nearest island ,some 3,00 miles away, but found it occupied by Human Vikings. Disgusted, Spinx turned to leave but noticed a smaller black Nightfury being ridden by a goofy-looking Human; Spinx realized that it was Toothless but he didn't dare to go near his old friend when the Human was always hanging around, so Spinx decided that he'd live in the dense forest until the time was right.
