A Frozen Box-Office Champ

This is going to be short, but I feel it's important enough to share.

Film

Many of you have seen "Frozen", but did you know that it is now the highest-grossing original animated film of all time? The only one that has grossed more is "The Lion King", which has only earned more money thanks to its 3D rerelease in 2011. Frozen has passed The Lion King's original theatrical gross, and to date has earned more than $810 million worldwide. That makes it the 42nd highest-grossing film EVER!

To top that, the film is not only still in theaters, but still performing beyond even the most optomistic expectations. What's more, the film has yet to reach theaters in Japan and China - among the largest foreign markets for animation. Assuming it has just as well of a reception there as it has around the rest of the world (and BoxOfficeMojo predicts it will), it looks all but confirmed that Frozen will end up with a gross of over $1 BILLION worldwide!

That would make it one of the top 20 highest-grossing films of all time. If it passes $1.063 billion, it will become the highest-grossing animated film of all time (that's Toy Story 3's mark, and the mark that Frozen will undoubtedly beat).

An original animated film has NEVER seen this kind of reception before, and what's more, only Avatar and Titanic have seen such as great of a response among ANY original films! What do you think? With the success of Frozen, has the world come to love animation once more? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Arctic-->No, it doesn't count for inflation. But even counting for inflation, Frozen still has a great edge on almost all animated films (though The Lion King would have more). However, if it DOES pass the $1.063 billion mark, that will put it past all other animated films, even counting for inflation!

My, my. I never expected that from a non-Pixar film. It'll be interesting to see if they can keep up this success. BTW, does the gross earnings calculation account for inflation at all?

This film really deserves it^^ It was so beautifully made!

I hope the film's success remains "frozen" and is remained unsurpassed for a very long time.

This film really is comparable to Lion King. It's just one of those movies that really touches your heart.

I watched the movie, and is very total awesome and beautiful, the music, the animation, the characters, everything is more than wonderful and perfect. But in others lion king sites, some people just freaked out, when they heard that "Frozen" beat The lion king as the highest-grossing original animated film. Actually it is obvious that Frozen wins from The lion king, i mean both are wonderful movies but... The lion king was made in 1994, people who is now with 24 or more years old, will never forget this movie, because it was a movie that was a great success during their generation. But it's a new age and some children nowadays wouldn't watch The lion king and have the same reaction as the children of 1994. So "Frozen" was a movie made for children and adults of this generation, with many effects and music. I showed the film to my grandparents, and they didn't liked any part, but my friends and cousins loved it, so i guess that for a movie be a success, must be in accordance with the interests of the generation

I have to admit, I wasn't going to watch it at first because I thought it was going to be like any other ordinary Disney Princess film.
Then, my sister told me that I needed to watch it. Reluctantly I did, and I'm SO glad that I did watch it! Frozen is amazing, it totally deserves the money that people have paid to watch it. It's well worth every penny!

Pretty sure this is THE best film that Disney's ever put out. It's absolutely gorgeous in every way - I think our Renaissance is back. Disney's back on track.

They even made the horses NORWEGIAN FRICKIN' FJORDS. Manes clipped. Precisely. Ulsblakk and brunblakk.

THE HORSES. And then there's Sven, who's gorgeously done, too~
