Busara was born in the Pridelands to a loving family. They cared for him a lot and doted on his every need. His family were very friendly with Moyo’s family, so Busara managed to spend a lot of time with her, even at a young age.

When he was a few years old, Busara’s family decided to move away to a new kingdom, but Busara didn’t want to leave Moyo. He refused to move with his family and so he stayed in the Pridelands with Moyo.

Busara spent all his time with Moyo and they fell in love, knowing they would stay together forever.

About two years later, Busara met Chimalsi. Chimalsi first met the cheetahs at night when he was lovesick. Busara instantly knew his fate would be tied to this lion and his Pride.

They had some brilliant nights together, the three of them. One time, they made Chimalsi look like a cheetah using the mud from a waterhole as spots. Another time, Chimalsi and Moyo pretended to fall in love. Busara knew they were joking, but it hurt him all the same so he was grateful when Moyo came running back to him.

Then, one day, Chimalsi stopped coming. Busara saw him once from a distance with a white lioness. Obviously Chimalsi had found a mate.

Busara felt left out, but knew how much Chimalsi must be loving his new mate, just as he loved Moyo. However, one day, Chimalsi found him again.

“Busara, would you like to stay permanently in Pride Rock with me?”

Busara was taken aback.

“I would love to Chimalsi! Is Moyo allowed too? What would I do?”

“Of course Moyo is allowed! You don’t think I’d invite you without her, do you? And you’d be a royal advisor, a sort of Major-Domo, as I am now King of Pride Rock!”

Busara congratulated Chimalsi and then went to find Moyo. Together, they left for Pride Rock.

Everything went brilliantly at Pride Rock for many years until Chimalsi and Nabii’s cubs had grown up. There was tragedy everywhere, including the death of Chimalsi and his Moyo. Moyo had got an illness and perished and Chimalsi got killed by his own son.

Amani came running in just after it happened and told Busara to take the few remaining lionesses away from Pride Rock. Busara led these lionesses for many days and nights, through lighting, storms, floods, stampedes and droughts. All of them perished except him.

Eventually, Busara gave up. He was exhausted, ill and depressed. Then, Bakari found him. Busara told him of the injustice being held up at Pride Rock and Bakari went to fight, but helped Busara before leaving. Busara ran after Bakari and saw the peace come over the Pridelands once again.

Busara stayed with King Bakari and Queen Amani for the rest of his life.
