Personality: Kato is a very shy, sweet young lion, whom cares very deeply about his mane. Though being shy doesn't mean he isn't smart. He loves to learn about other animals of the Pride Lands, and enjoys speaking to all the different animals. He might be shy around new animals at first, but he'll eventually warm up to them.

Short Story: Kato's father is an unknown male who was a rouge, and his mother is the sister of Tama. He was born in a litter of two, his older twin sister being Nia. His father didn't stay in the Pride Lands for long, and left.

When Kato grew older, he grew slightly shy around strangers, and was very quiet. He made friends, and most of the pride adored him because of his sweet, quiet manner. But, being sweet didn't mean he didn't have boundaries. He hated when others messed up his mane. If anyone touched it he'd get extremely mad, and it was a bad habit.
He loved to entertain the older lionesses of the pride such as Sarabi and Sarafina, but was always told to make friends with the cubs his own age. He listened, but still hung around Sarabi and Sarafina. He made friends with the King's son Kion, and his cousin Tadala. He also, as well as befriending his cousin befriended his cousins friends Otieno and Desta. They always stuck together. Sooner or later, Kion introduced the group to his new friend Bunga, whom was adopted by friends of the Royal family- Timon and Pumbaa. Kato liked the young honey badger, which kicked off his love of learning about other animals. Kato learned a lot, and befriended the future queen, Kiara. He loved learning from her about the Pride Lands.

When Kato got older, he heard from Kiara that Kion was to lead a team called the 'lion guard'. Kato had heard from Sarabi about the lion guard of her day. They were a team of lions that protected the Pride Lands, and the circle of life. He was hoping that Kion would possibly pick him for the guard. After all, they were best friends. Then, to his suprise Kion picked Bunga, and a group of non lion friends. Kato didn't mind, and supported the new lion guard, though the fact he was disappointed in Kion for not picking him. And it seemed that his cousin, Tadala, was very angry with Kion for not picking his own friends. 

Nearing his teen years, Kato would always get into trouble, and getting attacked by a pack of jackals was one of the many troubles he faced. Though, he was always saved by the lion guard in the end. He learned very much from the lion guard, and helped them on many adventures.
