Personality: After growing up without a mother, he grew quite bitter and cynical, gaining dark thoughts. He holds grudges very easily, and hasn't been able to overcome one since they were formed. Much like Scar, he's pretty much gone mad, and can be quite sneaky if need be. He's pretty cruel as well, and is prone to tormenting and taunting others. At times, he can seem heartless, and he basically is, thinking he was robbed of both his mother and father.

History: History: On a dark night with only the light gleam of the moon and the stars above, Kiara was about to give birth to her second litter, but she had no idea that it would be her last. She gave birth to two cubs, twin boys, and she thought it was over. But then, another cub came. During the procedure, she died from loss of blood, leaving her twins boys and their little sister without a mother. King Kovu was distraught, and began to ignore his new offspring. Vitani tried to cheer him up, but it didn't work. Nala decided to take in her grandchildren and raise them. He was named by his mother before she died, as he was the second born out of the two. Unfortunately, due to the laws, the first born male would become king, so Tendaji was chosen over Kato for this reason, though many thought it was because of his resemblance to Scar.

Ever since that tragic night, Kato has only known Nala as his mother and Simba as his father. After hearing what happened to his mother, he grew a very big hatred towards Rutendo, who he saw as the cause of this. He shared this with Akosua, his older sister who was outraged at the loss of her mother. Together, they tormented and taunted Rutendo until Tendaji, Imamu, or Simba stood up for her. One day, he and Akosua caught her alone, and tormented her until she cried. Tendaji tried to put a stop to it, but he ended up angering Kato even more, and he attacked Tendaji. In self defense, Tendaji fought back, scratching Kato across the eye, giving him a scar. While he was being healed by Rafiki, the old baboon saw a darkness in Kato, much like that of Scar's. He then gave Simba a message;

"You must leave him, Akosua, Kovu, and the others that are like him. Take only who you need."

So, Simba lef, bringing along seven others with him, leaving Priderock virtually without a leader. Since Kovu had basically gone mad, Kopa took over, with Vitani as his queen, and their future offspring to be the heirs, since they were now first in line. Angered, when Vitani gave birth, Kato lead them out into the Pridelands, and attacked them, killing them quickly. He blamed jaguars, and now, everyone was saddened. Later, when he was older, he went out on a border patrol with just himself and Kopa. He fought, and though Kopa had more experience, he was no match for the faster, swifter moves of the young male. When asked what happened, Kato claimed they had been attacked by rogues, and he just barely escaped. When Tendaji was made king, he fought with his brother for the right, and exiled him. When he took over, he exiled Imamu as well, getting rid of competition.

However, it soon became clear to all that having Kato as leader wasn't good. The Pridelands deteriorated once more, and they all began to starve. It was later that he was confronted by his brother and King Simba. After a long fight, Kato was thrown from Priderock into a raging fire, started by lightning. When he perished, the lions knew that his reign of terror was over.
