Story:

When Chumvi was a young adult, about the age of Kovu when he met Kiara as an adult. He bred with a fellow lioness of the pride, who later became pregnant. When Scar found out, he exiled him, but Chumvi wasn't so willing to leave, and stayed just outside the borders. The lioness gave birth to Laini, and entrusted her in Sarabi's care when she died of starvation. Scar, not wanting anymore females, especially without his blood, decided to kill her, but Sarabi and the other lionesses wouldn't let that happen. Sarabi and Sarafina became her  adoptive mothers, and  grew up alongside Nala, one of Chumvi's close friends. She always enjoyed playing with her and the others as a cub, but it soon stopped when the hyenas complained of 'losing sleep.'

She grew up with Sarabi and Sarafina mainly, warned to stay away from Scar and his followers. She learned to hunt, and became pretty good, though the pickings were very slim, and she hardly caught anything. Nala was always there to cheer her up, and promised she would find a way the end all this terror. Eventually, Nala, Sarabi, Laini, Sarafina, and the other lionesses came up with a plan: Nala was to leave the Pridelands and find help from others to overthrow Scar. They had to keep it quiet from Zira and followers of Scar though, as they might spoil it by telling the King of their plans. Laini protested to losing her best friend, but Nala convinced her that it was for the best.

They planned for Nala to leave during a hunt, and tell Scar that she got attacked by some jaguars. Saying good-bye was hard for Laini, but Nala reminded her that she would be back, and with someone who could save them. Two days later, Nala and a male lion showed up, and went against Scar. She helped to fight off the hyenas, but due to not having much expericence in fighting, she didn't do very well. Thankfully, the fight soon ended, and though she did have some injuries, nothing was fatal. They ended up with the rightful King, Simba, who she had been told died, but now it was a myth.

The reign of Scar was over, but some damage still remained. Due to the threat of an uprising from Scar's followers, Simba had to exile the lionesses that followed him, who also took their cubs with them, which left the pride small and weak. Simba began to welcome other lions into the pride to help rebuild it and gain strength. One of them was her long lost father, who she was finally reunited with his daughter, but when he heard about his mate dying, he became depressed, until Simba helped him get over it. Soon, the food returned, and everything seemed plentiful again. Later, three lions showed up, one of them Sarafina's brother, who brought his cubs into the pride. When she met them, she had a small crush on one of them, Jabari. She could also see her father taking a liking to Saada, Jabari's sister, and she was glad to see him happy.

Later on, Saada gave birth to two males, who Laini was happy to babysit. She did have one goal, and that was to grow closer to Jabari, though it took some time for her to actually come up to him and say hello. They grew closer when Saada, unfortunately, was killed by Zira, leader of the Outlanders. Out of grief, Saada's father Babu died a week later. With no mother and grandfather to Hakim and Salim, Laini spent even more time with them, as well as their uncle Jabari. She was excited to spend so much time with him, but she tried her best to focus on Hakim and Salim. She then fell in love with Jabari, and became his mate.
