Personality: Makona is basically the older brother figure to most. He watches out for younger ones, and is very protective over his friends and family. His loyalty can be won easily, and lasts a lifetime. Due to him being a bit of a reject to his father, he has a bitter relationship with him, and hardly spends time with him any more. He'll do anything for his siblings, no matter what, which leads to some trouble later on. He's a very honest lion, and hates to lie to others, but will if the time calls for it.

History: Makona was born as the first cub to Ahadi and Uru. Though he hardly looked like Ahadi or Uru, which caused controversy, Uru assured her mate that he mainly took the looks of her father, Mohatu, and this came as a sort of blessing from the old, deceased king. He was a strong, healthy male, fit to be heir, and Ahadi could hardly wait to train him. When he was a few months older, Ahadi began training his son to one day rule as king, in his pawsteps. But, Ahadi wasn't a very kind lion. He was strict and quite harsh, which made Makona anxious around his father, who hid this side of him in front of Uru, but presented it out in the open for all others, including his own son. But, sometimes, his mother let him have a day off, where he could roam the Pridelands and chat with the lionesses of the pride. His father called it slacking off, and demanded that his son would become soft if he had these days off, so they stopped.

As his mane began to grow, his father trained him more often, which gave Makona little time to sleep, and he was becoming restless with the passing days. One day, as his father was explaining something, Makona interrupted him, speaking about how he thought it was unfair. Infuriated, Ahadi attacked his son, leaving a large gash on his left foreleg. He quickly rushed him to the young shaman, Rafiki to be treated. When asked what happened, he said a water buffalo had gotten angry, and charged Makona, and that he had exiled the buffalo. Makona went along with it, for he knew his father could kill him if he told. Thankfully, his leg healed, but he now had a limp. His father was disappointed in his son, thinking that if he were stronger, he could've overcome that. So, Ahadi denounced his son from the throne, making him a common member of the pride. Though he was still treated with respect, he knew what they really thought of him. When he was a bit older, Uru announced she was pregnant again, for Ahadi wanted a good, strong heir. A few weeks before she gave birth, Makona found a small female cub. After looking for parents, and finding none, he took her in, and named her Sarabi.

When Mufasa and Taka were born, it was clear who was going to be the heir. Mufasa was firstborn, and much stronger and healthier than his weaker brother, Taka, and it came to no one's surprise when Ahadi announced Mufasa was his heir. As the two cubs grew, Taka was neglected by his father, always overlooked because of Mufasa, and he never really made friends with the other lionesses. So, in place of Ahadi, Makona stepped in, with his mane nearly done growing, ready to take care of him. He spent most of his time with his little brother, teaching him about the Pridelands and the Circle of Life. They had a strong bond, and they were hardly seen apart, as Taka looked up to his older brother, and Makona was always there to keep him from being bullied. Even though Uru tried to encourage Taka to play with others his age, he chose Makona over them. Unfortunately, Uru forced Ahadi to take Taka on lessons with him and Mufasa. But one day, Ahadi once more lost his temper, and gave Taka a scar over his eye, which ultimately kept him from his lessons, given the same excuse his father had with Makona. Makona knew his brother was being mistreated, and stayed by the cub, who changed his name to Scar to remind him of what his father had done to them.

When Scar and Mufasa became adults, Mufasa took over as king. Though Makona wasn't fond of him, thinking he was just arrogant and selfish, he was happy for his adopted sister Sarabi when she gave birth to their first cub, Simba. A few months after the prince was born, Scar announced that they had both perished in a stampede. Scar took over as king, and allowed the hyenas to come into the Pridelands for the first time in generations. Scar chose his loyal brother as his personal guard, knowing Makona would do anything to keep him safe. After a while, the Pridelands began to deteriorate more and more, and lionesses began to become slimmer. They pleaded with him, trying to get him to overthrow his own little brother, saying he'd be a better king. He refused to do any such thing, staying loyal to him.

Even though he was treated almost as well as the king, he himself began to get skinnier with the days, and eventually took action. He confronted Scar in his chambers, asking if the lionesses could get more food. Scar simply replied that they hunted enough for him, and should for themselves. After they argued a bit more, Scar attacked and exiled his brother, who lost due to his injury. Living as a rogue was hard, especially since he had been surrounded by other lions all his life. He couldn't hunt very well, and as he lay on his death bed, starving to death, he last thought of Taka, and how much his sweet, innocent little brother had changed.
