Personality: She's a strong lioness and as her name implies; tough. She's stubborn, and not willing to back down. Very short tempered, she can lose her patience with almost anyone, including herself. She is very down to Earth, and knows just how harsh this world can be. She's very loyal and protective over her family, except for her parents, Nuka, and others that she feels are a waste of time. She's very blunt, and isn't one to sugar coat anything, so probably not the best with cubs. She is known to lash out, as she's feisty and quite a spitfire if provoked.

History: Mgumu was born as the first cub to Scar and Zira under Scar's rule, a few months after Mheetu and Huru were born. Since she was female, Scar had no use for her, and cast her aside. Zira was unhappy, and decided to abandon the cub, but Sarabi found her and decided to raise her alongside Huru and Mheetu. Growing up, she was very close to her half-siblings, even more so than her own parents, since they abandoned her. And since Scar had sort of abandonded Huru and Mheetu too, it only brought them closer together. She grew especially close with Mheetu, since Huru was true to her name and liked to be independent. When Zira gave birth to Nuka and Sahara, she cast out the female, to make Nuka seem bigger, since Sahara was bigger than her brother. Once again, Sarabi came to the rescue, and adopted her to raise her. Mgumu became protective of her, and often spent time with her. She was taught how to hunt alongside Mheetu, Huru, and Sahara by Sarabi, Sarafina, and the other lionesses, who kept her and her friends safe from Scar, who wanted to kill them to get rid of them since they only took up space.

As a teenager, she witnessed her half-brother, Mheetu's exile, since Scar couldn't have a male that would threaten his rule. She wanted to go after him, but made herself stay, since Sahara, Sarabi, and Huru were here. She was attacked by one of the Outlander females, under the order of Scar, which gave her the two nicks in her right ear, but she fought back and defeated the lioness, proving she wasn't weak. At the age of a young adult, Vitani was born, as was Kovu, right before Simba arrived and killed Scar and exiled Zira. He would've exiled Sahara, Huru, and Mgumu if it wasn't for Sarabi who stopped him and explained the situation. Mgumu had heard about Simba from stories Sarabi had told them in secret, and was glad to finally meet Huru's half-brother, and their new king. She still couldn't get over the loss of Mheetu, but it was soon gone when Mheetu arrived just in time to see the presentation of Kopa, Simba and Nala's first cub. She was over-joyed to see her half-brother again, and spent a lot of time with him. And as Kopa grew, and Kiara was born, she became relaxed, though still as feisty as ever. However, news of the outlanders stirred controversy through the pride, since many thought that she, Huru, Mheetu, and Sahara might feel kinship for the Outlanders, and betray the Pridelanders, however, Simba kept telling them they were as loyal as any lion. As Kiara grew, Kopa began to act strangely, and finally, left as a teenager, leaving cub Kiara to take over the role as heir. Simba, knowing Mgumu, made her Kiara's personal body guard and wherever Kiara went, Mgumu wasn't far behind.

When Kovu came to Priderock, Mgumu faintly recognized him, as she hadn't seen him in so long, and it was only as a little cub. But, now she couldn't go on being Kiara's body guard, due to Kiara's wish to be alone. After the death of Nuka and Zira, and the Pridelanders and Outlanders joined, peace was finally here. Though there was peace, Mgumu knew never to let her guard down, and continued on with the job of keeping the borders secure, the lions well fed, and the pride defended.
