Personality: Light, bubbly, full of energy and loving. However, she can be feisty and can lash out.

Nabii was brought up on the savannah by a clan of hyenas. They had found her as a cub. The hyena leader was just about to kill her when the wise old hyena came forward and stood in front of the cub.

“You shall not harm this lioness. She is the greatest prophet to be born in this land for a thousand years.”

The clan leader decided to raise Nabii as her own, teaching her the way of the hyenas, but keeping her updated on the ways of lions.

Nabii knew she was different, but she didn’t care. She loved her adopted family.

As a cub, the clan leader came into the den to find Nabii sat dead upright in the centre of the cave. Nabii didn’t pay any attention to the fact there was company. Soon, she opened her mouth and began to speak in a soft, mystical voice.

“Find the place where the Kings lie dead. Lay me on their bodies. Let me seek their wisdom.”

She repeated this once more before collapsing.

The following morning, the chief hyena told Nabii about her prophecy. Nabii was scared. She couldn’t remember a single thing about it, but knew what she said had to be carried. Nabii remembered the story about the Kings that ruled a distant land. They spoke of wisdom and life.

“Take me there.”

The hyena clan travelled for many days and nights, but soon they arrived. The lead hyena knew of a place where the kings went when they were ready to die. Nabii went there and sat on the grass, bright green and full of life. She’d never seen such grass in her life.

That night, she told the hyenas to leave her alone. All of them except the clan leader. The clan leader promised to stay with her.

Nabii sat on the grass. She felt the power of the kings reach her through the ground and it made her feel warm. She let them embrace her mind and open it to the stars. She felt connected in the circle of life, a key between the living and the dead. Then she opened her mouth.

“A cub will be born a great ruler, but needs advice. A cub will be born a loving mate, but needs their friends for support. A cub will be born a storyteller, but needs to overcome illness to survive. A cub will be born a great hunter, but needs to have independence.”

Nabii knew none of what she was saying, but the clan leader remembered every word.

The following morning, the clan leader sent spies to Pride Rock. They came back informing her of the cubs. A son, a natural leader; a daughter, a natural mother; a son, a natural storyteller; a daughter, a natural hunter. The prophecies matched up with the ones Nabii had said that night. The leader told Nabii all she knew.

Nabii said, that is the present, but the future has not been told. She decided to go back to the Kings that night.

She went along this time. As she felt the power of the kings, she asked them to help her remember her prophecies. A tugging in her heart and her mind told her that they agreed. Then she heard the words as they flowed from her mouth.

“Secrets will come out. The family will tear. Only one can reunite them, a lioness of power. The family will become strong again until a cub is born that will destroy the lions of Pride Rock.”

Little did Nabii know that the hyena chief was watching her from a long distance. She had been worried about Nabii and knew that she would talk to the Kings again.

Nabii woke from a fitful sleep. She felt older in her heart and mind. She told the hyenas that she was leaving and if they ever needed her, the great Kings would tell her.

Nabii lived on her own after that night, scared of the prophecies she had made. She didn’t want to destroy the happiness at Pride Rock.

As she became a teenager, many rogue lions tried to have her as a mate, but Nabii didn’t love anyone. She needed someone who would rather die than be loveless, which is how she felt.

One night, Nabii felt like giving up. She sat on top of a little hill and cried her heart out. All of a sudden, a young male lion approached her and asked her what was wrong. Her answer was life and love. The lion, whose name was Ajali, told her he knew of someone who was looking for love too. He would introduce them.

Nabii met the lion Ajali introduced her to and fell in love at first sight. His name was Chimalsi and he was future King of Pride Rock. Knowing the future of the pride, Nabii knew she could help. However, she told no one at Pride Rock her secret.

She was too ashamed.

She had a brilliant life with Chimalsi and they became King and Queen of the Pridelands.
