Hello, Lion King Source
After having to deactivate some characters, we decided to post a small reminder about character species on TLKS.
* Extinct species (like Barbary or Cape lions) are not allowed.
* Tigers and cougars are not allowed. Please do a little reseach on your characters. Tigers live only in Asia and cougars inhabit only both Americas. Tigers, cougars and their hybrids are not allowed unless they are reasonably explained.
And a little reminder about realistic/unrealistic tag. Dark brown lions are allowed, but such colour don't occur in real lions and those characters should be tagged as unrealistic.

Actually, Barbary lions are only extinct in the wild. There are still
some in captivity. There are also currently what is believed to be
Cape Lions that were sent to South Africa from Russia for breeding
purposes. In fact, I am a firm believer that the cape lion is not a
subspecies of lion, but rather a southern population of the Transvaal
lion which are still very much alive. |

As you said we don't know what time the movie takes place exactly. You
can't say it's modern times but you can't say it's 100 or 200 years
ago neither. That's why. Or you can always take Timon&Pumbaa that takes place in modern times. |

The rules are fair, but I agree with Somes, that we don't know in what
kind of century the sequel happens, and how nowadays, there are tours
in Africa, biologists doing wildlife research, hunters, and not to
mention the Animal Planet and National Geographic. So the movie story
must happen before man start interacting with wildlife. |

Why can't extinct species of lions be allowed? We don't really know
what century TLK occurred, and it could have happened when currently
extinct lions existed. |

Ad�naphel- Serval x Caracal hybrids DO exist (Known as Servicals),
although they're very rare and are only found in captivity. I'd think
that if you'd be able to make a character that's a Servical, it would
have to once been in captivity, but released into the wild. |

@Happystool: A cheetah cannot breed with a lion or a leopard. Like,
they have to be in the same family. Cheetahs are not in the Panthera
family, so cannot breed with anything in the Panthera family. Like how
you can cross dogs and wolfs, but not dogs and foxes. Still canines,
but not in the same family. If that makes sense? |

They are technicaly allowed, but they require a little reseach again
like if the species even able to produce offspring or if is there a
posibility for those hybrids to be fertile (if you want them to have
cubs). Hybrids almost never occur in wild so please give them reasons to be. After all, it's a quite realistic movie. |

What about hybrids of big cats that live in Africa. Like Leopards and
Lions? Are they allowed? While they may not happen in the wild (well
haven't been documented at least), they exist. Or what about Several/Caracal hybrids? |
