The Lion King was originally released in theaters in 1994, but due to popular demand it has since seen two re-releases. The first time it was re-released in theaters was in 2002, under the large-screen IMAX format. During this time, it was released on 66 screens and ended up with a final gross of $15,683,944.
In 2011, The Lion King was again re-released, this time in 3D. While originally advertised as a two-week limited engagement, Disney decided to extend the run an additional four weeks, making it a six-week run instead. In its opening weekend it far exceeded expectations, grossing $30,151,614, the most of the weekend.
Current gross as of November 6, 2011: $93,435,862.

My friend Tori, got to see it in 3D. I can tell because
she was wearing glasses from it. They were cute. Everyone was saying
to her " I love your glasses."
