Timon and Pumbaa was an animated televison series that aired on several TV stations between 1996 and 1999. It was one of the most successful television shows to come out of Disney, and was well-praised for its three seasons. The show, as the title implies, follows Timon and Pumbaa on their adventures through Africa (and, more often than not, beyond).

Many original Lion King characters make appearances, most often Rafiki and Zazu. Simba made appearances in three episodes, and Nala made an appearance in one. More often than not, however, the focus of the show was on the title characters. Sometimes they were in Africa, but a lot of times they found themselves going completely around the world--making this the only series in the Lion King universe to explore other places besides the Pride Lands.

The themes of the show were usually Timon wanting to try something new--and rash--while Pumbaa either went along with it or saying he didn't think it was a good idea. The episodes would always end with mishaps and humorous consequences.

The show was praised for its humor and themes that were able to be enjoyed by both children and adults. The series finally cancelled after three seasons, when new producers were brought on and targetted the show to kids only.

Timon and Pumbaa episodes have been released on VHS tapes, but never DVDs. Some episodes have never seen a release outside of their original television airing. This section of Lion King Source is dedicated to one of the best Disney television series ever: Timon and Pumbaa.
