No they should not have had the same color tufts because Kovu and
Simba were different colors.

I was told once that teh darker the fur the healthier but
it could be that Kovu is just older. Or, since it's a kid's
movie, it could just be that Kovu is a different type of
lion.

by the way-i think its spel as Zira (i think)

They probably gave Kovu the head tuft to have more variation
between them because without it he'd be near enough the same
but in a different colour. They probably thought it looked a
bit more evil to have hair on his head at a young age.
But as Faremiriel said, he was a little older than Simba
was in the first movie.

No no no.....Kovu was a little older than Simba was
then..and the animators of the second movie probably thought
it would make him look cool or something.
