It was no secret that Kovu had a negative feeling of care for Kelly's son, calling him "Kelele" meaning shout.
One day Kelly came over to her son, who was teary eyed and knew exactly what it was that was upsetting him. She leaned down and nuzzled him gently. "I am so proud of you, my son. You have proven your worth and are the same as any other lion in the pride.... Kovu just doesn't see that."
