''I wish I could see Mom again.''
This comment by his newly rescued daughter made Simba look up. She was looking at him, unsure about what to do.
Simba sighed. It had been barely an hour since Sira's rescue, and now she wanted to go back. But how was he to tell her that her mother was evil, she was barely older than his other cub, Zuwena. It would be hard for her to take it, but somehow, he had to make her see that she had a better life with him.
He walked over to her. ''I'm sorry Sira, but you can't see your mother again.'' ''Why not?'' the tiny cub asked, looking startled. ''Because you belong here.''
Sira was silent for a few minutes. All this time, Simba braced himself for a tantrum from her, but all he got was a simple question: ''Belong where?''
Simba walked up to the top of a rock nearby and looked back. ''Come here.'' he told her. Once she was beside him, he asked her one question: ''What do you see?''
''The Savannah. Not like what it was in the Outlands. Momma said the Pridelands were a death-hole.'' Sira answered, awe in her voice as she beheld the beauty in front of her.
''Your mother was wrong, my dear.'' Simba slowly told her. ''She would never let you see this magnificent beauty for what it really is. But I will. You belong here, Sira, with me.''
