History: She and her friends, Noble and Kip, lived as strays. Their home would be the tops of buildings! They were safe from cars and humans there. But they sometimes would come down inside and cause chaos with the humans. This is a way they got food, by stealing it from inside.
They moved around from building to building.
Dayana was the strongest and was the leader of the group. She protected her friends from any dangers there were.
Dayana wouldn’t mind doing something embarrassing or silly. It didn’t matter to her.
One day, after being inside a building, they ran out to the roof. But the humans now followed them there! The dogs jumped off, landing in lots of grass. Fortunately, the building was not high. But the dogs were away from each other now. Dayana hated being down here. It seemed more dangerous, and scary.
But as she went to look for her friends, a teen age girl and her parents found her and took her home. Dayana liked them; they were loving so she was loving back.
One day, her friends found her, but they couldn’t dare live with these humans. So they said Dayana had to make a decision, to stay with them, or this girl and her parents. Dayana didn’t like this. But one day, she left to be with her friends. She decided to visit the girl sometimes.
The dogs continued to live on the tops of buildings, but come down sometimes, and not steal food, but get food from the girl.
Soon Dayana made an agreement with her friends. One day she would spend the day with Noble and Kip, and the night with the girl. The next day she’d spend the day with the girl, and the night with her friends.
