History: Kip and his friends, Dayana and Noble, lived as strays. Their home would be the tops of buildings! They were safe from cars and humans there. But they sometimes would come down inside the building and cause chaos with the humans. This is a way they got food, by stealing it from inside. Kip didn’t really like going inside and causing trouble.
They moved around from building to building.
Kip was the smartest of the group. His friends talked to him for advice.
One day, after being inside a building, they ran out to the roof. But the humans now followed them there! The dogs jumped off, landing in lots of grass. Fortunately, the building was not high. But the dogs were away from each other now. Dayana went off. Soon, Kip and Noble found each other.
The tracked down Dayana by following her paw prints. She was living with a teen age girl in a house. When the girl left the room, Kip called Dayana to the window. Kip and Noble said they wouldn’t want to live here, so Dayana would have to make the decision whether to come with them or to stay here. That night, Dayana escaped and went with her friends.
It was back to the old life, except that Dayana would sometimes be with the girl as well as her friends.
One day, Kip was trying to follow Dayana to the girl’s house. He wanted to see if she had anything for him to eat. But he lost Dayana, and didn’t know where he was. Then, a little fluffy dog came. Her name was Samantha. She helped Kip find his way back.
Now when Kip got lost Samantha would help him. Kip began to get a crush on her.
