I drew the Naveen picture before the film came out due to my disgust of the merchandise they sold before it came out.
This time I used a official source to draw by and to help articulate a cartoon frog.
To point out, the things that I liked to come out of this film before it aired had to be the tutorial book. Since it gave me light on the characters(even if it did spoil a little).
Now that my family went to the special event at the animation studios, my parents bought some very good merchandise, including a golden book with golden book designed versions of the characters(this is due to John Lassiter trying to make the Disney and Pixar characters appear in that pastel style whenever they appear in those books), magnetized kissing Naveen and Tiana frog version that's better than what's pictured above, and a lithograph they gave out to visitors who went to the event.
This event was about seeing the film at the animation studios, and then after you got to actually meet a person dressed as Tiana and other Disney princesses. They also had games were if you won, they would give out cards of the characters, with information of. Another interesting thing, but I somewhat missed out on due to the event closing for the night, was meeting a actual animator. This gave me a chance to do a portfolio review, even if my uncle thought before the event that it was just going to be a video showing a animator drawing. It was Eric Goldberg, the animator of Raymond, the firefly. Very great man. Unfortunately, I didn't get a long chance of meeting since my family decided taking the tour of the studio. The surprising thing about the tour is that we actually got to see the seven dwarves statues due to my mother being in a wheel chair. They dressed Dopey in a Santa Clause hat.
Just to note, I did take pictures of the event, but my computer isn't letting me do things quickly. Hopefully next year I'll get a new computer so I can check on all three accounts with finess.
I kind of feel bad that I've been continually listening to the soundtrack, but then again, I love Randy Newman's music. He's such a master.
The artical I pasted my drawing on is from Entertainment Earth catalog. It's the same catalog where I got my Rorschach and Question action figures as Christmas presents from my parents.
Expect more art of Princess and the Frog later on.
The Princess and the Frog hit me well since most of my life has revolved around frogs. My first character that I admired was Sanrio's Keropi. Later on, the Naruto character, Jaraiya was a favorite of mine(not that I completely follow the manga version with a liking though). I dressed as a character from the fairy tale the frog prince during a storytale fair.
To end on a funny note, I just saw my copy of the Muppets version of the Frog Prince, still funny as I remember it, and since I have a new found love of a certain composer due to listening to Tom Lehrer, finding out that Joe Raposo did the music made me like it even more! He's done Grinch Night and several variations of Tom Lehrer songs with Lehrer singing, so it's great to see another source.
