If you ever wondered why most of the Talespin opening wasn't actually used in the show, and what was that red box that Baloo holds in that intro, well here may be the answer :

late 1989? That'd probably be the better bet, since it WAS an ad for
the first few test run episodes that were being aired on Disney
channel, which would be in the spring of 1990. Plunder and Lightning
(which I assume was still in development due to it being longer?)
would not come out until that fall.
