From the makers of Lord Of The Rings some of the world finest pilots comes a reconstruction of the early days.
You think the wild/brutal days of Rick Sky, Joe Magee, Whistlestop Jackson and probably Baloo's youth are gone? And thats's fiction, how about the Red Baron, Keith Park, Eddie Rickenbacker, Rene Fonck and more then I can remember. Well think again.
Since 2001 at Hood and Omaka Aerodrons in New Zealand pilots, engineers, film makers and historians have been rebuilding the early days of aviation by reproducing and restoring aircraft from nearly 100 years ago and testing them in mock dogfights that get quite brutal at times.
Although some are replicas that look like he real thing and a handfull of ones built in the 1910/20's they are reproductions where they got the old blueprints out from archives and scanned museum relics and using the same tools and materials made aircraft that could be sent back in time.
They are now a fixture at our air shows (one this Janurary) and fly aloungside just about every generation of aircraft (see the P-40 in the opening background?) and of every sort right up till today.
This TV dock is a few years old as they now have more flying.
