I've read somewhere that Launchpad McQuack from Duck Tales  was originally the intended star and main character of Tale Spin. So I have a few questions about that.

1. How and why was it decided to switch from Launchpad to Baloo from the Jungle Book?

2. If Launchpad had been the main character, would Kit have been a different animal, or non-existence? What and who would've been there in place of Kit - Doofus, from Duck Tales?

I like Tale Spin with Baloo as the main character better than it being Launchpad, Baloo fit in wonderfully with the show. Personally, I can't see how you can put Launchpad in Tale Spin without making him slightly out of character.  At least Launchpad got his spot on Darkwing Duck...

Jymn Magon1) Launchpad was never intended to be in Tale Spin. Rather, I used a discarded idea from Duck Tales as the premise for Baloo's air cargo company. Originally, Launchpad had an air service, but that was dropped from DT.

2) No - Launcpad was never considered for TS. So don't worry about it.

Never believe Wikipedia, then...(because it was clearly stated there that he was originally intended to be in the series) I have edited the Wikipedia page to remove that part... In any case, I'm very glad that Launchpad wasn't in the final series, because I don't like him too much. (he's a very bad pilot anyway, when Baloo is an ace)
