Hey Jymn,
I saw that you were the story editor of Quack Pack. How did you like working with that show? Was it supposed to be a DuckTale spin-off, since they Donald and the nephews lived in Duckburg...or was it a spin-off of Quack Attack?
What's up with all the humans? What happened to all the other humanoid animals?
I love Donald's Hawi-style shirt, who came up with that design
I also love HD&L's outfits, they look cool and I really lke Daisy's hairstyle
Now to more important questions:
How did Quack Pack came about? Is Scrooge McDuck still living in this series but just didn't get any screen time?
What inspired the show, and what inspired you as a story editor?
Who came up with The Claw? I must say, I'm surprised that Donald was so scared of him, seeing how he has a destructive tempter that rivals The Claw's strenght. But then again Donald been known to be cowardly.
In my fan fiction, the Quack Pack Huey Dewey and Louie are friends with Kit Cloudkicker and his twin, Chris, since you're the co-creator of TaleSpin and the story editor of Quack Pack, do you think HD&L, 13 and Kit, 12 would be good friends if they met each other? That'd be interesting to see them interact onscreen.I'm guessing Disney wasn't totally behind Quack Pack, seeing as it has less episodes than TaleSpin, do you know why it was cancaled? Just wondering
Anyway, I think you did a good job on that show.
Ever wanted to age the characters?

Jymn => It was the beginning of the end at Disney for most people,
actually (just look at the comments on the web! EVERYONE says the same
thing. Even nowadays childrens.) And the change in management clearly had effects on the quality of the productions. Unfortunately it goes on...Take a look at this topic : /board/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=29150 I really think that, even if the few shows produced nowadays are commercially successful (are they that much? to me the other companies like Nickelodeon seem more successful), classic shows like the Disney Afternoon ones would have done ever better - and one day they will regret it and will go back to what they used to do. I'm convinced of it. Again - it will take time... |

Thank you so much for your answers, Jymn, they are very much
appreciated. The only way I can think of to get HD&L meet Kit outside of my fanfic would involved time and universe travel. |

>I saw that you were the story editor of Quack Pack. How did you like
working with that show? It's a bit of a blur. That show was the beginning of the end for me at Disney. Karl Geurs and I were the producers of that show (then called "Duck Daze"), but when management kept stonewalling us during the development phase, the Art Director and Karl & I walked away. And nobody from "upstairs" even called to say, "What's wrong, guys?" Yep, the beginning of the end. The day when a roomful of execs was more important to a show than the creative team. (And that only got worse as the years went on. Ask anybody.) So Karl & I agreed to stay on as Story Editors. But my heart wasn't in it. > Was it supposed to be a DuckTale spin-off, since they Donald and the nephews lived in Duckburg...or was it a spin-off of Quack Attack? Not an official spin-off, no. Simply several years after Duck Tales. Donald is back from the Navy... and the boys have grown into teens. (I don't know what Quack Attack is.) > What's up with all the humans? What happened to all the other humanoid animals? Wish I could tell you, but the decisions are now long past. (It probably had something to do with the popularity of Roger Rabbit.) >I love Donald's Hawi-style shirt, who came up with that design. Me. No, the art designer. > I also love HD&L's outfits, they look cool and I really lke Daisy's hairstyle. Now to more important questions: How did Quack Pack came about? Can't remember exactly. We always had new ideas in the hopper. I'm guessing someone said, "Let's age up the nephews and put them into X-treme Sports or something." Or more probably, Eisner was pushing to get the Superstars (Mickey, Donald, Goofy) into their own series. Chip'n'Dale already had Rescue Rangers. Goofy had Goof Troop. Now it was Donald's turn. > Is Scrooge McDuck still living in this series but just didn't get any screen time? Yes, Scrooge is definitely living. He'll be living long after I'm dead. But he wasn't part of the focal cast. However, he WAS actually part of the original premise. He wanted Donald to "grow up," cuz he knew that Donald would inherit the McDuck fortune someday... and would probably lose it all. So the series started off as a "test" to see if Donald could handle the job. On-the-job training, so to speak. I think we had Donald moving from department to department in the McDuck corporation, and he screwed up all the time... but the nephews kept helping Unca Donald out. Yes, that was the ORIGINAL Duck Daze series idea. I recall now. That's what I pitched. Donald was definitely the star... but he took a backseat later in the development.) > What inspired the show, and what inspired you as a story editor? The need for another hit series is what inspired the show. The need for a paycheck is what inspired me as a story editor. ![]() > Who came up with The Claw? I must say, I'm surprised that Donald was so scared of him, seeing how he has a destructive tempter that rivals The Claw's strenght. But then again Donald been known to be cowardly. I don't remember The Claw. That'd be interesting to see them interact onscreen. Yeah, I assume they'd get along. Similar tastes. But then, Kit and the Nephews live in entirely different universes in entirely time periods. > I'm guessing Disney wasn't totally behind Quack Pack, seeing as it has less episodes than TaleSpin, do you know why it was cancaled? Just wondering I think I quit Disney whle Quack Pack was still in production, so I can't say. Jymn |
