10 / 10For the longest time I've always felt that the last good Disney film was Bolt, which was released in 2008. I had lost hope in Disney, as they've been on a princess kick for the last six years or so. But with the release of Zootopia, my opinion has changed! The story really keeps you on the edge of your seat, and it isn't predicable like some movies. There was only one scene I found predictable, though I'm not going to give the film any flack for that. This film is also geared towards a older audience (even though a older kid could still watch and enjoy this film), which I applaud Disney for. Like I mentioned before, Disney has been rolling out many films pertaining princesses, and those films are always full of cliches. Zootopia is about chasing your dreams, even if no one believes in you. The film also teaches people to see others for who they are, not what they are.
I'm giving this film a 10 out of 10. I plan to buy this film when it becomes available this June!

I would have loved to said more in my review, though writing isn't
exactly one of my strengths. But thanks! Is it me, or is there a backslash in my title? I'm not sure it was there before. Anyway, I also think it's a miracle that Disney managed to ignore their compulsive need to add a bunch of annoying musical numbers into the film. The way they handled Try Everything was really quite clever. Whether or not it was their intent (which it probably was), the song is a foreshadow. And just to toss this in here for the heck of it, there were oddly a handful of kids (no older than ten) in the audience. I was concerned that I was going to be annoyed by Paul Bunyan's (a chubby one) boys, as they all decided to start shaking their popcorn buckets at once. Luckily they stopped before the movie started, and ol' Paul didn't block my view.  |
