Alpha and Omega

Written by steet :

Oh oh. Looks like something that will surely interest the Balto community.

It's kinda strange : I thought I knew about all the upcoming animated films for the next two years, and a completly unknown one pops out of nowhere and is set to be released in september of THIS year...
This is a CGI feature film, in which the main characters are wolves. I guess the best to do is to show you the trailer :

I'm not sure how to consider it yet.

From one side, it's nice to finally see an animated film in which wolves are the important characters. (The Balto films are a mix between dogs and wolves)

On the other side, there's an awful feeling of "déjà vu" to it...What bothers me the most is the "stupid" humor. It could easily be mistaken as a new Madagascar or Open Season. This kind of characters has been seen in almost all CGI films in the 2000's. Why can't they do something *serious* for a change? I hate it when the characters are always acting "funny" even when they are in dangerous situations. And that music...gosh, I really hope that's not part of the film soundtrack.
I'm not even mentioning the obvious similarities with the Balto films - then again, there aren't so many situations or animals you can include in a story related to wolves.

As for the animation side, I'm definitely not a fan of the characters styles (which convinces me how much I WOULDN'T want to see the Balto characters recreated in CGI...), though the animation is not that bad considering it's (probably)
a low budget film produced outside of the USA (India). It will be interesting to see how it performs at the box office, but considering the insanely HUGE number of CGI animated films to be released this year, I really don't understand why they didn't try to at least make it STAND OUT from this crowdy market.

For now, I'm more looking forward to the Wolf animated film project, which may take years before release or may never see the light, but at least looks much more convincing.

NB : this will be the last film in which the actor Dennis Hopper will be credited (voice), as he passed away a few days ago. RIP...

NB2 : We're talking about it on the forums : Alpha and Omega

well, it just looks like any other movie plot, just with wolves.
THEY HAVE HAIR!
Kate? what kind of name is that for a wolf?
Humphrey? i don't even know how to spell it!
I think Kate kind of reminds me of Aleu...
And the geese? The totally remind me of Boris.......
I will NOT be going to see this in the movies, but i MIGHT rent it on DVD.

*why can't normal picture animation exist anymore? And why is every movie in 3D?* :icon327:
