Other: Leather collar, metal choke chain. Wire muzzle to keep her from nipping at people.

Relation to Balto: She was very good friends with Boris and spoke with him when ever she could. She also had a run in with Aleu when she was on a hunt. Then later Boris told her that she was the daughter of Balto.

Bad Habits: Chewing on things (especially shoes), digging in the flower bed, biting people, and barking at random things which is very odd because Borzoi are known for being a “silent breed”

Likes: She loves her Master, she’d do anything for him. Chasing animals. Being pampered like a queen. The sound of a gun. Playing in water/mud. Loves the snow. Wandering away from home. Her good friend Boris. Long naps. Sitting by the fire. Nabbing food off of the counter or table. Running. Shiny things. Taunting her Master’s work horses. Making people mad. Toying around. Acting “dumb”. Rides in the buggy.

Dislikes: The Mistress, she hates her Master’s wife. Being told what to do by anyone but her Master. Being ignored. Kalinka (German Shepard guard dog). Being punished for her actions. Taking the blame for things. Dry dog food. Being boarded at someone else's house while the family is away. Being put in the kennel. Her muzzle. Strange people. Her choke collar. Small children.

Personality: Oh how she loves to taunt and tease the animals on her Master’s land. She has a very smart mouth, and isn’t afraid to use it. She also loves to talk and spread gossip. She even pokes fun at her best playmate, James, the local orange Tom Cat. She loves playing people and treating them like pawns in her game to get what she wants, she’s very stubborn in that way. Is very loving and loyal to her Master and his workers, but she won’t even as much take a treat from her Master’s wife. She’s very judgmental, won’t talk to someone if they don’t look “fitting” to talk to. Is always in a playful mood. Won’t sit still, is very hyperactive. Also gets bored easily. But when it comes down to business, she’ll be as serious as can be. Takes her “job” very seriously. She is a very hard individual to befriend, but if you’re lucky enough too, she’ll be the loyalest friend you’ve ever had.

Talents/skills: Is a very fast and strong runner. She is good at her job of running down her Master’s game and holding it there until he gets his aim set on it long enough to take a shot. She works better on her own rather than with another dog.

Weaknesses: Is very stubborn and won’t listen to anyone but her Master or her few friends. Thinking too highly of herself. Loses friends easily.

Temperament: Will not tolerate small children or loud annoying things. Has a tendency to snap and bite people/animals. Has very bad aggression problems and needs to be penned when guests are around.

Bit of background on her owner: Her master owned a nice plot of land on which his rather large house and stables were built. He was higher up in the political world and he owned land on which contained a deposit of gold(which led to his wealth). Her master owned a large number of animals. Among those animals were: a group of four Russian Heavy Draft horses. A pair of Orlov Trotters for use on hunts/other activities. A mule. A pair of Oxen. Small heard of Yakut cattle. A dairy Yak. Chickens and geese. Three dogs (Kat included) and numerous other animals.

History: One day, a very nice evening it was. A Sir and his wife were strolling along the local market. The Sir stumbled upon a younger fellow who was selling the puppies of his two prized Borzoi. The Sir thought to himself, he needed a new sighthound. His other dog was growing old and was no longer able to come along on hunts with it's master. So without another thought, the sir bought one of the puppies. He pick the one that had the oddest markings out of the bunch of four. He came to name this new puppy, Katyusha. The sir and his wife brought the new puppy home with them. Kat soon became the new center of attention around the house. Which she enjoyed very much.

Katyusha now belonged to a very wealthy Russian family. Her Master owned a big, mansion like house and many stables where many animals of every shape and size stayed. As Kat grew older and was allowed out of the house without supervision. She loved exploring the stables where many animals stayed. This is how she met her best friend James, the orange Tom that hung around the stables. Together these two caused lots of trouble. She also met many other animals that she soon befriended.

She had always loved her Master, because he spoiled her. He never did treat her badly, and because of that, Kat could get away with just about anything she pleased. But, Kat hates her Master’s wife. Ever since the one time the Master’s wife struck Katyusha with a broom for stealing food off of the table and counter, Kat has despised her. Kat wouldn’t even go near her now. The incident with the Mistress caused Kat’s aggressive side to come out. Now Kat will attack any woman who comes near her. (this part of Kat’s story is based on my aunts dog, her dog hates men and will attack if one goings into her house.)

Kat’s Master started taking her out on hunts and she turned out to be very good at her job. She could hunt down just about any game, large or small. She had even won her Master a bear pelt, she was able to chase down a brown bear, with the help of another dog owned by her Master’s workman. Now that her Master saw her abilities, he really pushed them. He requested Katyusha to chase down the finest fox and wolf for his wife’s fur collection. He also requested her to hunt his favorite game, Waterfowl. Kat’s owner loved hunting Waterfowl, he also loved mounting them as trophies of his work.

This is how Kat came to meet Boris, the Russian Snow Goose. Katusha recognized this goose from her puppy days. He used to hang around the stables and gossip with the chickens and work horses. Since Kat recognized Boris, she led her Master away to save this goose from her Master’s knack for killing anything that flies between his cross hairs. Later, after that day’s hunt, Katyusha returned to where she had last seen Boris out in the field. After searching for a few hours she found him. Boris too recognize Kat, he thanked her and complimented her about how much she had grown.

They spent the next few days sharing stories and laughs. She listening closely to the stories Boris told he of this Balto. Boris spoke very highly of Balto. They parted their ways for the time being but promised to keep in touch. Every now and then Kat would sneak out to go visit with her old time friend, Boris. With each story he told her, it made her want to meet this Balto he talked of even more. Kat had even met Balto’s supposed daughter, Aleu. This tawny wolf hybrid claimed to be his daughter, and that she had crossed the ocean when it was frozen.(which I will write a fanfic of their meeting if I ever get the time :/)

It was a calm February day. James, Katyusha’s best friend, had died a few months earlier. Kat was now an old dog, she had seen many sunrises and sunsets. She knew her time was close. She had one last visit with Boris before she passed on March 1st, 1933. She was 11 years old when she did. She had a happy life, living the cushy life with her Master, tormenting the work animals and help, digging up the Mistress's flowers, and many other things. The one thing she cherished most though, was the friendship she had with Boris. She loved all the stories he told, all the gossip he spoke, and all the advice he had given her. She loved every bit of live she had, there was only one part she regretted. She never did get to meet Balto.
