Personality: Because of the fact he is the only dog in a wolf pack, he is sort of used to being teased and talked about because he is a dog. This doesn't really happen in his pack, his pack respects him as their alpha. Well, most of them do. The teasing comes from other packs. Akino doesn't let it get to him. Akino also really loves being fit, healthy and active, like any animal really. He will always put others ahead of himself, especially if they are close to him. But Akino can also be a bit overprotective, and doesn't like when others put themselves in danger, no matter how little or big that danger is. He also isn't very trusting of outsiders, even if their intentions are good. You have to be close to Akino for him to trust you fully. He is very closed about his past as a sled dog, as he is ashamed of his downfall, but still loves to run and race the wolves in his pack. Akino is also very intelligent, and is good at solving problems and sorting out issues.

Dislikes: Being away from his family, hunters, putting his pack in danger, being different, when others put themselves in danger, outsiders, not being listened to
 

History: Akino was born in New York, in 1918. When he was 9 months old, his owner, Geoff Cooper, decided that he would take Akino and his other two dogs, who were both Siberian Huskys of the same age as Akino, to Alaska so they could train to be sled dogs. When in Alaska, Geoff signed them all up for training and they soon became sled dogs. Akino was a fast learner and soon became a great lead dog. He endured harsh training, but it was all worth it.

When Akino was 3 years old, Geoff sold his dogs to the team's musher, as he planned on moving back to New York. Akino never saw him again. The next year was the year his racing career really took off. He won his first championship, and was the talk of the town. He continued to win race after race, and soon became the holder of the golden collar, and also of many racing records.

Later that year, Aniu gave birth to a litter of 5 pups, Makita, Shanook, Aleu, Shasta, and Balto. They were fast, like their father, but one in particular showed exceptional speed and agility. Balto was able to keep up with his father, a grown dog, even though he was just a pup, and Akino knew he would grow up to be a strong wolf-dog, or might even follow in Akino’s own footsteps and become a champion sled dog.

When the pups were only a few months old, a vicious storm ripped through the forest in which the pack lived. Balto was separated from his family in the panic. Akino and Aniu were heart broken, and searched desperately to find him, but with no success.
