Bio:

Aklu was raise from birth to being six months old in Vancouver, Canada. When she was six months old, she was sold to her current owner, Elizabeth Rutledge, a lady of considerable means with a passion for adopting dogs of such breed. Rutledge moved to Nome with the hope of having an experienced handler train her new pet in the art of dogsledding.

Because of her stubborn and playful disposition, Aklu didn’t learn as fast as Ms. Rutledge had hoped, and so Aklu missed the opportunity to be introducing into a dogsled team when the chance came. Even though Aklu was learning, the handler training her gave up on her. Instead of becoming an athlete, Aklu would become a pet and close companion of her owner. Even so, Aklu’s speed was lightning quick. So one day as she was running through the streets with a fellow husky, they came upon an auction. Then prices were mounting high for the prized dog, when all of the sudden, a rat raced across with snow, and into the roped off area where the auction was taking place. Ignoring her better judgment not to, Aklu raced through the area after the mouse at top speed knocking down several smaller canines in her path. As this went on, the top bidder on the auction watched this lovely dog race through the snow. The bidder also happened to be a handler and trainer of dogs. He Called to her. Aklu stood there in the middle of the street looking proud with a rat in her mouth. He called to her again. Looking rather puzzled, Aklu cantered over the the man. As she approached him, he grabbed her neck trying to gain control over her vigorous panting to have a look at her collar. “Aklu,” it read. He grinned petting her. From that day forward, the man would be her adoptive handler. With Rutledge’s permission, he successfully trained her to be a gifted sled dog.

Being introduced to the team, Aklu was quite shy. She was submissive to all the other dogs, especially the leader. The leader was a calm, wise dog. He was a genital and noble pet. However, being the brother of Steele, Aklu decided to tread lightly. As the months passed, Aklu started to warn up to her fellow team mates. She specifically became friends with Chase. Chase was swing dog one. He has a specific dislike for the leader, Icecap which Aklu took great pleasure in joining in on. For months, Aklu and Chase would terrorize Icecap with every practical joke their doggy minds could think up. Aklu was the classic juvenile. However, one night when Aklu was asleep by the edge of the porch, Icecap got up on the roof and dumped a bucket of icy cold water on her. Aklu was appalled. “Come on down from there, boss, I’m make sure swallow that, just watch”, She yelled. “That’s why they call me Icecap,” he smirked in an aggravating way.  As he was walking across the roof she followed continuing to blast him out. As he climbed down from the roof on some crates he winked at her. Feeling rather uncomfortable, Aklu lunged after him tackling him to the ground. “Ahhhhhhhh” Icecap yelled with a painful yelp. “What the heck do you think you’re doing, kid?” “Payback” she said with simplicity and a wave of her tail. Surprisingly, Icecap grinned. “That it is” He said. “Sorry, I think that was… almost a complement” She replied. “It wasn’t almost a complement. It was” said Icecap. Aklu chuckled an unenthusiastic chuckle. “And between you and me, not a bad tackle, Akka. Your actually quite a dog” he whispered as he walked past her and into the house. After that day, there was always a hint off chemistry between Icecap and Aklu.
